The first time I had @gavinsanity_ on @truthserumpod he spoke about a possible future at @adcc_official as a bridge he’d cross when he got to it. Well, it came and he crossed it. If you’re a BJJ athlete of any level this entire episode is a gold mind of mindset and to date, one of my favorite episodes recorded. - #truthserumpod #ethosnutritioncoaching

The biggest threat to your Jiu Jitsu career isn’t losing. It’s injury. If you’re a grappler in their 30s, I’m sure you know by now you don’t recover as fast as you did in your 20s. That’s okay. It’s just part of life. But what do you do off of the mat to make yourself a more durable and resilient grappler on the mat? Do you stretch daily? Do you do any mobility work? Do you have a strength and conditioning program? Are you hydrated and well rested? What is your diet like? All of these are so important. And it’s not too late to start taking them seriously. I started prioritizing these things when I turned 30. I spent my 20s running my body into the ground. Multiple surgeries. Today I feel great. I’m in the Best shape of my life. I’m more mobile and flexible than I’ve ever been. Strength and conditioning has me moving efficiently without pain. I’m able to train longer and with more intensity. Don’t put it off any longer. Start today. In addition to building the engine, you must respect it. You can’t roll as hard as possible every round acting like it’s the finals of ADCC. You’re just going to get hurt. Prioritize skill development. Not just going hard. Tons of grapplers are tough. But not every tough grappler is skilled. And if you do get hurt, rest and heal. Don’t keep pushing yourself and toughing it out. You’ll make it worse. The mat doesn’t care how good your guard is if your knees, shoulders, and lungs are gone. Strength, conditioning, and smart training aren’t a side project. They’re what keep you rolling at 40, 50, and beyond. It’s not about who’s the best. It’s about who’s left. 🔋 Follow @p.domenick_ for more coaching tips and insights . . #JiuJitsu #coaching #BJJ #giledapproach #grappling

This was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had . Studying , learning and applying ecological dynamics , the constraints led approach and in general skill acquisition science from Greg Souders and the entire Standard jiu jitsu crew in grappling changed everything for me and led me to this moment , Deandre and his brother Gavin have both been my favourite athletes and role models for a long time now and watching the Standard and Blackbox crew and finally getting to train with them and learn from them is now a dream come true . Deandre is one of the best grapplers in the world for sure but is also one of the best humans I’ve ever come across . His patience to sit and talk to people, explain things , answer questions ( even old and annoying ones ) , give advice and recommendations , especially after training hard himself is very commendable and inspiring to me , also extra thanks to his entire crew - Rod , Joe and Reginald all were amazing training partners and people in general . Hope to get a chance to train and learn with them soon and hopefully in India 2027 !
