I want to congratulate @deanegonzalez for a beautifully curated program of films. In its second year, @latinefilmfest gave a real gift and offering to Fresno—one that felt extra needed and timely given the raids in town and the shooting of an ICE agent only blocks from the theater and —lest we forget, if not for persistent activism, this venue could have been a proud boy loving church. All this reminds me and affirms a belief in direct action, organizing, and community led projects. We need all of it: mutual aid, showing up at county supervisor meetings, at city hall, outside detention centers, teach-ins, action action action love love love —and poetry and art and films. I applaud Deane for his commitment to making this festival a fundraiser for CHIRLA as well as a platform for independent Latine film. I am proud to have played a small role in this and will continue to support projects like this one however I can. I am grateful to those who messaged me to say “taking the long road home to think seriously about all those films i just saw” or “i needed this bro” or “i got home and spent an hour writing for the first time in a long time” or “that shit was so fkn cool man” GRATITUDE 🙏🏽✊🏾✊🏾🎥🎞️ special shoutout to our photogs @alanxalvarez and @bikelips

🎬 A NIGHT TO REMEMBER. Our 2nd Annual End of Summer Film Festival was something truly special. We crowned 2 winners, but this night was about so much more than awards. 10 filmmakers from across the Central Valley came together to share their stories, their creativity, and their work on the big screen. 🎥 To every filmmaker who participated, every person who packed the theater, and every sponsor who believed in what we’re building, THANK YOU. None of this would have been possible without your support. And a huge thank you to our camera team for being there throughout the night and capturing all of these special moments for us to look back on. 📸🎥 @byisaiahmoreno @aangelazunigaa @03rome This festival continues to remind us just how much talent exists right here in the Central Valley. We are more than agriculture. We are culture. Until next year. 🎞️✨

Thank you to everyone who came out, packed the theater, walked the red carpet, supported our filmmakers, and helped make this year’s festival something special! Most importantly, thank you to all of the filmmakers who trusted us with your work. This festival exists because of your stories, your creativity, and your willingness to put the Central Valley on the big screen. 🏆 Congratulations to our Best Motion Picture winner, Quince Candles by Deane Gonzalez, and our People’s Choice Award winner, The Pendant by Prado! 📸 Festival and red carpet photos are coming soon! We’re hoping to have the full galleries available sometime next week, so keep an eye out. Thank you, Central Valley. Until next year. 🎥❤️ Photos captured by @astolfodgarza 📸

Los Angeles Film programmers!Thank you so much for coming out and being in community! So many of us loved the no-agenda format this time around, where simply connecting, catching up, and spending time together was the heart of the afternoon. As organizers, we were a little worried the rain might keep folks away, but you all still showed up in full force! Much appreciation for your time and presence. Kudos to my co-impresarixs' @Zegan_ Doyle for getting this particular edition going, and @Imanidavis for always being game. Of course we missed our now East Coast–based co-founder @jzkip, Julia Kipnis, but we know she’s over there holding it down with doing kickassery programming work! There’s something really special about getting LA film programmers together to be in the same room to connect, and enjoy each other’s company. I was super thrilled to finally meet @abb.y wright...founder of @femmefilth festival and connect with film programmer @iamxavierpeng!!!! It was nice to officially give @nothatsaidah an official welcome to Los Angeles having moved here from NY! Super fun catching up on things! Thank you again for spending part of your Sunday afternoon with us. We look forward to seeing you at the next one! If you know a film programmer that would be interested in attending these seasonal meetups, please have them reach out! . . #filmprogrammer #filmprogrammers #filmprogramming #filmcurator #filmcuration

We are thrilled to announce our full short film block! 👇 “These films remind us that change is the only constant. Inviting the embrace of change that leads to self-discovery, whether it’s the change of the sun itself or our relationships, the changes we experience growing up, or the change in how we experience gender; our August program highlights the pain and joy of resisting stasis, charting new territory, and inviting others to others to be a part of our growth.” @jeannieseberg , director of programming Free RSVP at the link in our bio
