It took us a few days to fully absorb the energy and excitement of last week’s What’s New, What’s Next!

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible partners, panelists, friends, and everyone who joined us. We packed the house, connected with industry insiders, unveiled our latest designs, introduced the talented artists of CY ART SPACE, reconnected with old friends—and made many new ones.

As the New York Design Center celebrated its 100th anniversary, we were honored to contribute to this milestone with a timely and engaging conversation in partnership with @carolkurth and @modernluxuryinteriors. Cannot wait to welcome you all back at our showroom in the nearest future.

Had a sooper shitty week. Lost a couple friends to illness. I'm at that age, I guess. So, I decided hanging in the sun on my stoop con mis plantas was the right move. Plus, I retail therapied a bit with this T-shirt -- COW! -- which it seems to me @deanhamerlystudio could've designed. Feeling a bit better, and I'll always remember to say, "I love you," so often that it might get weird. Be good, y'all, and I hope your crotch also smells like basil.

Hanging out with Dean in Bushwick 1 year ago. My how life can look so different in such a short time! It is such an important reminder for me to really pay attention to all the simple good things you enjoy at any given day, there are special moments in every day that really never get repeated. If we are awake and aware we get to fully experience. At this point in my life realizing that experience stays with me. Those experiences that I am able to savor in the moment hold power. Every day has new special experiences and moments. Do what you can to roll in them when they present themselves.

Really every moment is special.

Positive Pandemic Experiment (PPE) is excited to launch today by featuring New York based contemporary sculptor Dean Hamerly

BURY: cast and fabricated bronze. 25 inches L (draped) x 10 inches W (full scale). 'The persistence of memories’ that are sometimes buried. This is the second shovel in a series of works related to holes and shovels.

A shovel to me projects the act of uncovering, revealing, discovery, burying, obscuring, and hiding. It can be for purposes of necessity, self alienation, or self discovery. Holes happen in life. Sometimes they can be challenging to overcome. They can be self made but they can also be filled in. It’s a constant. The meaning of my works can change for me in that way. Life changes and so my works change and a new meaning may be uncovered and added to its history…the uncovering and filling in of holes.

I feel that I’m one of the fortunate ones during this pandemic. Usually I am constantly stressed trying to juggle time for daily life tasks, work, and creative work. A forced lock down period is a welcomed luxury. As an artist I believe that I can cope better with the stress of the drastic life changes we all are going through by focusing my thoughts and energies on my work. It’s an outlet and sometimes drastic changes, stress, and trauma turns into powerful work for artists. It’s a way to express visually what you can’t communicate easily otherwise. The amount of time that i have to just think without other distractions has opened up my mind, amplifying the creative process. The stresses of the pandemic are still there but somehow I just learn to put them aside- knowing that it is something that only time can change- and everyone is experiencing and overcoming it together.
