September 2026

This month can’t possibly be over already?! What a beautiful whirlwind. Kicked off the month with like 30lbs of limes from our neighbor’s fallen lime tree… and limechella was born. It rained. It got too hot. Zwicky made lots of friends. I tagged along to see The Matches play their reunion shows & saw so much love & community in those crowds I could burst. Caught up with friends all over the country. Spent a lot of time on my DIY Halloween decoration project with lots of help from Aurora. And kicked off my two year directing fellowship with Sony Pictures Television. 🥹 We packed in A LOT.

The news has been a nightmare, but I’m so grateful I can hold onto these moments with our beloved community. It’s the only way through the horrors. Love you all! You belong, we belong.

Ft. @lalalindsey_rose (thx for the frames!) @vidiots & Wet Hot American Summer w/ @theofficialsuperstar, @davidwain & @margueritemoreau, limechella crew @danfaughnder, @liz.mxf, @deannarooney, @cajohns, dog hangs with @amaliaandthek9s & @dogfitla, @benjamin_chandler, @monacajb, @thematches, @justindsansouci, @drumsticksandicedtea, @jonathandevoto.tapperdan, @shawnharri5, @aurorazenith, @sonypicturestv, @sheridan.odonnell, @emili.kim, @kevinluu1a, @kellyluuluu, @aayummy, @scratchpadcomedy

August 2026.

Deleting Instagram from my phone for the month was a complete joy. I didn’t feel as drained by the dread (still there, though) or getting lost in the endless scroll of silly nonsense, but what I did miss was seeing updates from my friends. It made me realize how passively we’ve learned to engage with one another. We see a life update, we react with a heart, we move on. Meanwhile I’ve been able to grab lunches/go shopping/eat dinners or have hour long phone calls with friends outside of that sphere. I want more of that. I know how busy we’ve become, and that passive engagement can sometimes be all we have the bandwidth for, but I want to be more intentional with connection to my community. Call me. Text me. Let’s get a coffee or a pastry and talk about what actually happened behind that lil photo update. I promise to do the same.

August was a rollercoaster. I received crushing news. I received some of the best news of my career. We got our new home to a point where we can live in it and stop being distracted by projects. Zwicky continues to make friends and improve on walks (slowly but surely). We got to welcome friends for a (literal) housewarming on the frickin hottest day of the year. We saw The Beths. Spent time at Vidiots. Little bb filmmaker Chelsea got to see and meet one of her heroes, Michel Gondry. Deanna brought me to a Widow’s Bay event that was so INSANELY fun. Christina and I spent exactly the correct amount and not too much money at all on Halloween decorations that will be going up throughout September, because it brings me so much joy and it’s NOT too early. Justin, Zwicky, & I escaped to the woods for a weekend to rest and prepare for an absolutely bonkers September.

The #SeverinSuperShockPopUpFilmFestival is always one of the best parties on the calendar and this year is their 20th anniversary.

Got there around 9:30am, got in at 12noon, and got our third row center seats. Four films instead of three this time, all upcoming releases for the label, along with a bunch of short films and trailers for even more new titles.

And Amber surprised me at the merch table with the BAY OF BLOOD 4K set, so we now own the definitive package of Bava's masterpiece with extra barf bags!

Swag bags, photobooths...cupcakes galore!
And this year's films:
HOUSE OF MYSTERY (1961)
ENTER THE DEVIL (1974)
BLOODY MOON (1981)
MASTER OF THE FLYING GUILLOTINE (1976)
(Audience Vote Winner!)
