Today we’re very excited to release our debut compilation daylight x darknight! It’s an attempt to capture indie music’s many shades. Across the compilation, the songs move between shimmering, melodic moments and heavier, more shadowy textures. The result is a compilation that feels both cohesive and unpredictable, much like the scenes it pulls from.

Thank you to Phantom Wave, Weird Era, Dear Dorrit, navel grazr, Pin-Up Sisters, Lesbiana, doubleshot, Iceblynk, SNAKEY DUBLAY The Photocopies, GLICH3 and Exit Moon for sharing their extraordinary work with us.

Big shoutout to @nightime_asylum_pr as well for the help in getting the word out!

daylight x darknight is available to stream on all DSPs and can be purchased in digital format and a Limited Edition Black Marble cassette at soundvsystem.bandcamp.com Link in stories & bio.

Dear Dorrit is the Phoenix alternative band made up of sisters Sofia Damia (Bass/Voice), and Venus Navarro (Guitar/Synth/Vocals). Their 2024 EP ‘Bedroom Flood’ serves as the band’s “opening statement of their indivisible music, narrative, and aesthetic proposals.” Their track “Is It Something That I’ve Said?,” off that same release, is included in our compilation daylight x darknight. It’s a song whose sonic characteristics–harmonies, melodies, and guitar textures–recall the band’s 80’s post-punk, post-hardcore and shoegaze influences.

soundvsystem records will release its first compilation daylight x darknight on 10/24. The release brings together shoegaze, post-punk, dream pop, and experimental pop.

The idea was to create a split-type of album, each side—this was always meant to be a cassette—sharing certain sonic elements. We didn’t want to put strict parameters on what the compilation had to be and instead focused on the overall story. The result is a dreamy album that encapsulates different mind states.

To pre-order the compilation on cassette, head over to soundvsystem.bandcamp.com or check out the link in bio.

Today we’re sharing that on 10/24, soundvsystem records will be releasing its first compilation daylight x darknight!

Instead, each song should feel like it was a new shade, fitting neatly into those in-between spaces of opposing sounds. The result is a dreamy album that encapsulates different mind states.
daylight x darknight includes songs from: Phantom Wave, Weird Era, Dear Dorrit, navel grazr, Pin-Up Sisters, Lesbiana, doubleshot, Iceblynk, SNAKEY DUBLAY, The Photocopies, GLICH3 and Exit Moon. Some of the songs are exclusive to the compilation and we can’t wait for you to listen!

We’ll be sharing audio clips and more info on the artists over the next few weeks. Head to our Bandcamp link to pre-order the digital compilation. We also made 100 cassettes with a Black Marble shell. Those are also available for pre-order and are expected to ship early November. Go to soundvsystem.bandcamp.com to pre-order.
