NFL strength, plant-powered performance 🏈

Deatrich Wise Jr, former defensive end for the New England Patriots, has been fully vegan since his rookie season and plays one of the most physically demanding positions in football entirely on plants.🌱

"As an NFL athlete, I’ve discovered first-hand that strength, recovery, and endurance all thrive on healthy eating, and that’s why I chose a plant-based diet." – @deatrich

Deatrich didn’t just cut out meat. He built muscle, improved recovery, and proved that elite athletes can thrive without animal protein. He regularly eats up to 5,000 calories a day from nutrient-dense plant foods like beans, legumes, grains, nuts, seeds, and soy products, plus smoothies and protein-rich meals that fuel his performance.

One of the biggest questions athletes face around plant-based eating is: Where do you get your protein? For Deatrich, the answer is simple. Plants, vegetables, grains, legumes, and whole-food proteins provide everything his body needs to build muscle and recover after hard hits.

Why his story matters:
💪 Strength with plants: You don’t need meat to build muscle.
⚡ Better recovery: Many plant-based athletes report less soreness and faster bounce-back.
🌿 Smart nutrition: Plant proteins come packed with fibre, micronutrients, and antioxidants that support overall health.

Deatrich is living proof that plant-based fuels elite performance and that strong bodies can be built without compromising on protein.
