This woman. The youngest daughter of her family. The matriarch of ours. Don’t be fooled by her sweet demure, there’s a creative goddess lurking within this one. Sometimes I really feel for her, the peaceful Mennonite in a family of hot blooded scots. The only one who doesn’t rush to show up only to arrive an hour before the doors open. The quiet one who laughs as we all spill our drinks, but don’t be fooled, she’s smart as a whip and when she says something she means it. Boy can she school us with her wisdom + insight. She goes slow and savours her food, milk, spices, wine, whatever she has in front of her while we gobble ours down. Thank you for always being the peacekeeper, the best verenecke maker (after tena), a beloved grandma to our children, and an endless lap to snuggle in. I can’t wait to read YOUR book momma. Love you to the moon 🌝

These women...with their capacity to love, their strength, their softness, their ability to laugh, to cry, & to just be - they are Geisbrecht women. I am so proud to be one of theirs, so honoured to be a mother and to have them to look to when times get tough - which they do. In the last year I learned parenting is really hard. It's the greatest spiritual practice I've embarked upon. And it brings great joy and the tough times. These two have saved my sanity plenty of times. So to the two best moms in the world, I love you, thank you for all that you are & Happy Mothers Day 😘
