Throughout my entire career, time spent working to build the foundation and future I’ve wanted has always felt like a sacrifice. . I never once questioned if it was worth the long hours, lonely nights, and nonstop travel. I just assumed it was the same series of time-sucking sacrifices that everyone else who’s considered to be successful has made. Geez was I wrong. . Earlier this year, I started off the first week of January with nonstop travel and working 70 hours per week, it continued for months. I was home less than 30% of the time for Q1 and my family refused to let me apologize for making sacrifices. They forced a necessary and long overdue mind-shift to what I’m now calling “the perspective of abundance” that can only come from investments. . My efforts have never been seen as sacrifices to them, they see them as INVESTMENTS. In this moment, my mindset around time spent working went from MORE INVESTMENTS, to significantly less (and eventually no) sacrifices. 🙏🏾 . Our life’s work is valued based upon the definitions that we have the power to create. . Feeling like a unicorn 🦄 can be exhausting if we let guilt get the best of our greatest attempts at achieving our dreams. .
