Stay ready so you don't have to get ready ✨️💪🎬✨️

It's been a great summer in The Essentials Class- from an intensive unit on using Michael Caine's eyeline technique for close-ups, to exercises to maintain focus with off-camera distractions, to last week's exercise in building self confidence, this talented group is ready for 🍁

Great work coming out of The Essentials. Last week was our first ever Continuity Lab- We worked on a mock coffee commercial practicing bearhugging suggestions of the script, simplifying movement, and the strange balance of paying attention to blocking without making it the only focus. We all gained appreciation for the work of Scripties on set.

Scenes ranged from a darkly comedic cooking lesson gone terribly wrong to a heartfelt meditation on protection of one's friends via a mediation of two volleyball players fueding over a 10th grade disinvitation.

Had a fun session working with young actor, Brendan Grant on his new headshots~ Brendan recently played a baseball player in a short by @cameronmbrown.film . Brendan says his dream role is to be in a horror movie-- He loves Fear Street based off of the R.L.Stein books. When not in front of the camera, he works behind the scenes & runs lights for his school theater. With @debbygaudetscreenactors

Always a beautiful day when working with these dedicated & talented actor-imrpovisers.

Glimpses from The Essentials class- from last week's scenes set in a car to previous weeks' scenes: a fake psychic discovers a true crime, the outsmarting of a boundary-less employer, an anger management client turns therapist, two teens pranking a grieving widow but aren't ready for what happens next, a son is implanted with a neurolink-like device against his will by his scientist father, a broken music teacher is taught by his outspoken pupil, and a mother who struggles taking her meds but who is protected by her son who refuses to give up on her. These actors are not just entertaining, but deeply artful in the specificity of their choices & the trust they show one another each week.

Thanks ever to @groovygherkin for great 📸 & other snaps from @herophotographsnola @debgaudet_official 💗🙏💗

Shoutout to special guests : @jamesbrite504 @rhianfox_ 💫

Lean on me.

Great work happening in The Marquee class. Be it a show-down in a Cessna, a heart-to-heart between sisters, or the downfall of exotic pet dealers, all the scenes highlighted the humanity of their characters and exhibited high level trust between the improvisers.

Thanks @groovygherkin for amazing 📸
