We have come to the end of Bath Fringe 2026! 💜🪩

This year’s festival took place over 21 days with more than 1000 people attending our 150+ events hosted at 33 different venues across the city of Bath.

We had some brilliant events as part of Fair Endeavours as well as the Studios Presents Series and a large number of our events hosted by @roundhillbarn, Bath Library, @jesterscomedyclub, @thegrapesbath and @thebellinnbath.

Thank you to all of our organisers, speakers, guests, to everyone who attended one of this year’s events and of course a big thank you to all of our venues!:

Yesterday morning was a busy one at Bath Central Library with two events from The Fresh Fringe Family Festival! 📚

First up was a drama workshop with Milena and Debbie where we heard an old English folk tale. After the story, the children were then able to make their own puppet and act out the story themselves 🎭

The second event of the morning was Speedy by @debdoadventures, a fantastic, energetic and engaging puppet show following a family of Snail Racers 🐌

Both events were a lot of fun for all the family and all the children were thoroughly captivated ✨

Be sure to check out the next events that are part of the Fresh Fringe Family Festival on Thursday 28th May!

We have been so excited to announce this show for weeks. Sunday 10th May, as part of @sparkfest_bath, we will preview Instinctual Creatures. A poetry double-bill from Alexis Brooks and Lily Redwood. Expect Paradox Found and The Protected, through powerful poetic performances, to explore trauma, love, and life’s complex truths.

Paradox Found - Lily Redwood
"In one hand – the unfathomable magnitude of being. In the other, a shitty nappy."

Lily stretches between birth and death; motherhood and mother loss; gratitude and despair with honesty, tenderness and a smattering of playfulness. Lily's work has been described as "visceral, loving and brave" (Emylia Hall, Founder Mothership Writers).

The Protected - Alexis Brooks
An urban parable set between 1985 and 2012, exploring themes of maternal love and violence against women, delving into the failure of institutions and individuals to hear female voices. The Protected is a poetry collection written for performance by a cast.

Alexis Brooks confronts issues of social injustice in her work, provoking both laughter and outrage among her audience. "The Protected" draws inspiration from true stories. delving into tough topics through a mix of sharp wit and heartfelt empathy. What do you do when the system fails to protect the vulnerable?

Tickets are just £5 and available in the bio or via the QR code on slide 2. If you are reading this on FB, your link is down below. Search for poetry events.

Sunday 10th May, 4.30pm Burdall's Yard 7A Anglo Terrace, Bath, BA1 5NH

We are almost at the end of our open mic footage from the December spin cycle. This is @debdoadventures, a tireless advocate for poetry, storytelling and the arts in our little corner of the world. Debbie is a force behind @chimes.poetry.night and @your.short.storiess, among other things, and is generally a very cool lady to know.

At the Bell Inn creatures will live
Goblins and fairies, maybe your grandmother's teeth

If you'd like to perform we can give you a slot. Message us, @your.short.storiess bring your best tale or whatever you’ve got

This time we bring you a theme to follow. Or maybe some ideas you can borrow:

Winter in England is cold and wet
The sky and the clouds a big grey heavy hat
But as the days grow longer and the sun warms up

*What brings you out of the dark?*

Is it a boogie, a nap, a swim
Or perhaps telling us all about
your grandmother's teeth?

When: 23/01/2026
Where: The Bell Inn, backroom
Doors: 7pm
£5 on the door

Footage from last week is being edited, and I am getting it up as quickly as I can. Here, debdoadventures embraces the theme and steps out of her comfort zone of comedy and puppets to deliver a poem that was some serious food for thought.

A few snaps to whet the taste buds of last night's laundry cycle. Remember @mal.keg is our facilitator for next week's online workshop tickets available in the bio.

Thanks to all our open mic contributors, you really embraced the theme. Apologies for some of the poor quality photos Alexis is to blame🤪

Secrets in Socks!! Thanks so much for getting involved. If you have taken a secret as a writing prompt, we really do want to share your words. You can either email Olly, send it in a message here to Alexis, or you could record audio, make a reel; anyway you want to share, we want to get your words out in our community.

Video clips to follow, look out in your message boxes open mic peeps, we do run it by you before we post.
