When I got married, twenty years ago, I bought every single bridal magazine on the shelf. And every single magazine had a Vera Wang gown…. And I wanted every single gown. They were all THAT fabulous!

Can I just tell you my experience in this gown?!!
1. It’s so lightweight and comfortable! It fits like it was made for me! (Each model said the same thing!)

2. I love the non-traditional vibe it gives, especially with the harness!

3. I feel like this is an EVERYTHING dress! No need of changing for the reception. And even better yet- no need of having buyer’s remorse. This dress can be worn again and again… it feels and looks THAT versatile! But if you want to preserve it and save it for your daughter’s wedding, the dress is classic!

THE CHASE (DESERT AIDS PROJECT)

When Kenny and I first moved here, at the end of 2012, I had several patients who told me about DAP (Desert AIDS Project). I was unfamiliar with it, but they always spoke of DAP with tears in their eyes. Each person had the same sentiment, "DAP saved me. I don't know where I would be without DAP." 🥺

As a housing developer and funder for low income housing, @kenny.rodgers11 became involved with DAP and I became EVEN MORE impressed with the work of DAP.

Desert AIDS Project was started in 1984, when a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS was a death sentence; it had a negative stigma, and people were ostracized. The list of services that DAP provides is astounding, including primary medical care; dental care; mental health services; substance abuse counseling; housing programs; assistance with food, utilities, and transportation; etc.

When people think of this area, they often think of celebrities, country clubs, etc., but this area is also characterized by a huge economic disparity. There are more than 10,000 people receiving care from DAP and the need continues to grow (about half of that number are affected by HIV/AIDS).

It has been an honor and a privilege to attend the DAP Gala, which is a huge fundraiser. It is always incredible to talk to the beautiful soul that is David Brinkman (CEO of DAP). His passion for his work is so evident.

@kenny.rodgers11 and I felt completely honored to have @baronestudio @karenbaronestyle compliment our outfits! I'm sure you've seen their painted aluminum animals (dogs, rabbits, cats, etc.) around town! I love their work!

The entertainment was top notch with @deborahcox @spencerludwig @michaelurielikesit @sethrudetsky @edenespinosa @maxizpad

Summer Colony Living ( @summercolonylivingpalmdesert ) on El Paseo is doing great things, y'all!

Debra Carrington (@debraeveryday), the owner of this beautiful and unique boutique and a lifetime member of the Big Hearts for Little Hearts Desert Guild, hosted a beautiful shopping experience on Thursday, March 31. Don't worry if you missed it, because it was the FIRST ANNUAL experience, which leads me to believe there will be many more great events like this in the future!

If you live in the area, you already know that Loma Linda has an amazing medical center. Did you know that Loma Linda University Children's Hospital provides superb life-saving care for critically ill or injured children in the Coachella Valley?
LLU Children's Hospital is located in Indio and is the largest pediatric clinic in the area. It provides a wealth of services, such as general pediatrics, behavioral health counseling, pediatric gastroenterology, pediatric neurology, pediatric endocrinology, dentistry, pediatric genetics, pediatric cardiology, and pediatric pulmonary allergy. Events like these help fund the hospital!

@debraeveryday also showcased some new designers, like Melissa Pellone (@pellonedesignercollection) and Mercedes! They really had some great, unique pieces! As if that were not enough, Debra also had some new amazing jewelry pieces! If you want to step up your wardrobe with some head turning pieces, I highly suggest that you visit Summer Colony Living, across from Eddie Vs on El Paseo. The added bonus of shopping on this special evening, that also celebrated the store's five year anniversary, was that money from the sales that evening will go to benefit LLU Children's Hospital!
