We wanted to share a recent interview on the podcast Appodlachia featuring Sarah Love (an alum of our MA program, current PhD candidate at UGA, and professional archaeologist). We are also sharing links to op-ed pieces Sarah co-wrote with Maureen Myers, Director of Archaeology at New South Associates, Inc. for Decaturish.com.

The topic for all three is proposed changes to Section 106 Historic Preservation Act; these changes have the potential to negatively impact many historical sites in Georgia and throughout the U.S., in part by not requiring public input for new construction and development. You can read/listen more at these links:

Technology will continue to advance. The question is whether government has the judgment to establish its limits before tragedy forces its hand.

The H.A.L.T. Act draws a clear line.

I wrote in @decaturish about why responsible government requires us to act now, not after the damage is done.
