Show 87 had a double first play with both guests premiering a new unreleased track. My first guest was Karianne who is releasing her 2nd single “Ensued” this Friday. We chatted about how at just 18 she is writing and producing her own tracks, about her parent influence on her music style and lots more.

Later in the show I was joined by Alec and Charlie from Figgy Tuna. We premiered their new single Cherish which drops today. We chatted about their new sound and the insanely busy period they have planned for the next few months with around 5 singles in the pipeline. Catch them launching this single Saturday night at The Indi.

I played the debut single from Lilith and 19 other new tracks too. You can listen to a recording of the full show on the In The Scene page of the 107.3 HFM website.

The Tidal & Spotify playlists will be added to my linktree later this week once all tracks I played are released.

There are moments in creating music that change things for you as an artist. Some might define it as a record deal or a breakout song but I think a shift in mindset is of equal importance. Today marks the 1 year release anniversary of my “Fragments of a Vacant Eye” EP with @decembragain

The FOAVE EP is an emo drenched 5 song project with touches of pop, ballads and even a song inspired by medieval fantasy. This project is near to my heart and a defining point in my career for a number of reasons:

1) It was my first ever collaborative project. Not only was it the first time I worked with another artist, but we did it from opposite sides of the world with nothing but whatsapp for communication. Working with @decembragain and his unique styles brought me out of my shell and allowed me to realize that collabing with someone doesn’t make a release less yours. It allows you to redefine yourself and explore areas of music you didn’t think you belonged in. Collaboration builds confidence and leads to growth.

2) This was my first time branching out into various song structures and styles I didn’t know I could fit into. This EP forced me to step outside my comfort zone and in doing so, I realized I was more versatile than I lead myself to believe. It’s easy to put yourself into a box creating in isolation. When @decembragain first suggested a lo fi emo song, I wasn’t sure I could contribute. Fireflies ended up being one of the funnest times I had mixing and writing. Collaboration leads to change and change brings more creativity.

3) This EP was my re-entry back into mixing. On my first album, I outsourced all my mixing. I didn’t think I could get the sound quality I was looking for. I didn’t believe. Although there’s things I wish I could go back and change (I’ve continued mixing everything for myself since then), I love the raw and vulnerable sound of this project. It fits the vibe we were going for. Mixing FOAVE reminded me that I do know how to mix, and it inspired me to get even better.

Thank you FOAVE. Here’s to 1 year 🥂

Well, I am still struggling with whether I should be posting these playlists. This one is missing a couple of tracks as those artists have decided to remove their music from streaming and go to Bandcamp.

If any of the artists tagged here don’t have Bandcamp, please go set one up. Fans can buy your music and directly support you. You can set a base price but allow fans to pay as much as they like, allowing them to show as much love as possible for your art.

You can also sell your merch through it. Sell before stream should be your motto if you wish to self-sustain your music. Recording is not cheap, so wouldn’t it be great to fund it through proceeds of sales from your previous work.

I’ll get off the soap box now, sorry.

On show 75 last night I had the great pleasure of giving a first play to the Lazy Haze single Night Like This.

I know I have played tracks ahead of release before, but this was a bit special. Their single personal released in October 2024 has just ticked over 1.3million streams, so I was humbled to get the chance to give this next single its first play on radio.

We had a great chat and played a ton on new music so make sure you check out the full show recording.

You can listen to a recording of the full show on the In The Scene page of the 107.3 HFM website.

The Tidal playlist will be added to my linktree later this week once all tracks I played are released.

Show 56 last night had lots of laughs. Thanks to Sam & The Square Legs for chatting about the new EP Big Boy out this Friday and for keeping your clothes on. And for letting me play an unreleased track from it.

I also chatted to Jack Lundy about his 3rd single Denial and his launch show this Friday at the 459 Bar.

I also played unreleased tracks from Shannon Smith and Newport. Both due for release on Friday.

You can listen to a recording of the full show on the In The Scene page of our new 107.3 HFM website. www.hfm.radio

The Spotify playlist will be added to my linktree later this week once all tracks I played are released.
