Pedal Pusher for Giant Bicycles

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What happens when “paying your dues” no longer determines who can keep up?

With 161 miles of Deschutes National Forest trails newly open to Class 1 e-bikes, longtime Bend cyclist and pro racer Carl Decker takes on the tension between pedal power and electric assist—and makes a case for a little more humility on the trail.

“As people who’ve invested years into honing a craft, being left in the dust by someone with motor assistance raises understandable frustration.”

But maybe the bigger question isn’t who earned the climb. It’s how we share the trail.

We went P2 @cheqmtb 🥈 yesterday!

I had a plan to race aggressively and see what came of it. I did that, but @matthew.mtb did it better 🤣🤝

Such an angry little race, but a pretty fun one. Thanks to the @giantbicycles team for another great week up here at the races.

We’re now equal 2nd in the @lifetimegrandprix standings with 2 rounds remaining. 👀

With the conclusion of another @made.bike show, it occurred to me that next month is the 30th anniversary since my first Interbike trade show. Between various tradeshows, dealer camps, other custom bike shows and the like, I’ve got between 75 and 100 shows under my belt, which on paper is exhausting. Ultimately however, it’s the people, and the odd super cool bits and pieces that maintain a healthy and endlessly exciting wind under my wings.

Stoked to finally put one together here in Leadville. It’s hard to put the fears of bad experiences racing at this altitude behind you. I don’t think I did that completely today but I do think I will be able to next year.

I fought really hard on the way home and got the lead group back within striking distance however I did not in fact strike 🤣 Feels good to feel good!

Stoked to see @melisa_rollins pull it off on a day that again threw curve balls. And @colepaton absolutely charging out there.

Big team effort this weekend 🙏 @giantbicycles
