Some places don’t just open. They arrive.

We had the pleasure of experiencing this gem: Father Forgive Me — the wine and cocktail bar located in Detroit’s Little Village tucked into the grounds of The Shepherd.

It was just named one of USA TODAY’s 50 Bars of the Year for 2026.

A century-old Romanesque church. Vaulted beams, reverent light, a beautifully cultivated outdoor patio with greenery, perfectly lit grounds, and a curated wine and cocktail program. That's the whole thing, isn't it? Reinvention doesn't ask you to abandon what you were. It asks you to carry it forward differently. BUT it’s not only a craft cocktail and wine bar. The small plates are beyond out of this world. The four of us got to sample countless uniquely created delicacies, ending with the most unique blueberry, milled rice “cookies” that were a cross between a freshly baked muffin and a soft warm cookie.

Megan our incredibly knowledgeable server was genuinely in love with what she does and was super fun. Giving Mr. Mylo some extra love and attention.

The best company.
The weather glorious.
The atmosphere simply perfect.

Go experience them for yourself: @fatherforgivemedet

Today we celebrate the woman who not only gave me life, but taught me how to be non-judgmental, kind, empathetic, forgiving and loyal. Today we celebrate 82 years of my amazing mother’s life. A life where she has always put others first, taken care of everyone else, a cheerleader, was my father’s best friend, partner, love, caregiver and co-parent. Today we celebrate a woman who selflessly allowed those she loves to shine and always took the “back seat”. Her quiet and unassuming nature has had far more impact on my life of serving others than she will ever comprehend.

We celebrate you today and all the days.
We love you!

Happy 82nd Birthday mom/grandma!
