Late post from Juneteenth event! “POWERFUL by Jussie Smollett and Alicia Keys. Video edited by @decoder1906 Reminder: YOU matter. WE all matter. Know your history—why? Because knowledge brings us together. We ALL deserve peace, unity, and equal life.” VD: an African black queer male wear leather black pant and pattern button up shirt with white t shirt. What a beautiful experience: the first-ever dual-language production of The Color Purple, presented in both American Sign Language (ASL) and English as a mirrored performance. I’m so grateful to have worked with this amazing cast! I absolutely adored being a part of this team, and I learned so much from all you amazing people. Every one of you have truly made this journey worthwhile. Special shoutout to my twin on stage!!! Thank you so much for your patience and you willingness to teach as much ASL as you could in the span of 2 months!! I’ll never forget this experience 🥹🫶🏾 Well I wish I could stay but… I got to get to school!! This is Nettie, signing off! 💜🤟🏾

ID: the cast of @honestlyspeakingpresents production of “The Color Purple” performing in the lobby of the theatre. . . . So the power completely shut down in the entire city. What did we do? Well if you were a theatre kid, and couldn’t finish because of the power outage, what would you do? lol! Exactly, perform in the lobby! THIS is the stuff #theatrekids love and we are willing to do, because we know what theatre is, does, and will always be. And for many of us, me included, it’s home. Thank you to all those that came last night. So sorry the power went out! #blackdeaftalent #blackdeaftheatrekid #hoodtheatrekid #deafthatrekid #blackdeafactress #deafblindtalent #blackdeafblindtalent
