31. Decorpsetated ~ Human Words [death/thrash]

This album might not be for everybody, but I find it to be a very entertaining take on modern deathrash. The production is murky and ugly, the percussion is balls-to-the-wall, and the guitar is like a sentient chainsaw that can’t decide which speed to saw bodies at. Oh, and everything but the drums is done by one guy: Marc Schultz. The riffs fluctuate between groove and aggression and the bass is punchy enough to stand out in the mix, but I think the strength of this album is its deviant songwriting. Songs like “Taser Napkin” and “Ambiguous” benefit from unorthodox riff construction and instrumental passages that stick out compared to typical deathrash. While this album isn’t the cleanest, it was certainly one of the most interesting of the year.

Merginator Fest has been announced! Lol. With #SpotifyWrapped2023 making the rounds again, the "festival" posts are happening as well.

This is probably the heaviest festival imaginable. Would you go?

I want to do something fun. Best albums from this year from artists who have low Spotify monthly listeners, because the platform does a shit job at promoting new artists. So, buy their merch and albums and jam these artists as much as humanly possible.

This is part 1:

1 - @10tothechest is what happens when you combine Bodybox, Fulci and Sanguisugabogg. Absolutely gnarly death metal with amazing production. I am addicted to this EP they released.

2 - Bashed In is slamming beatdown death and their new EP is crushing. A must listen to head smashing good time, I must say.

3 - Colpoclesis' newest release has been in constant play for me since it's release! I enjoy the whole package from drum snare to guttural snarls. It's heavy as hell.

4 - Decipher's newest album is exactly what I like about black metal! I don't know why people aren't talking about this album more! It's one of the best black metal releases this year! Truly remarkable work here!

5 - Decorpsetated is weird through and through but in a good way that I find fascinating. Their style of death is unorthodox, pulling from a myriad of influences and crafting their own sound. Gruesome artwork, excellent unique sound and just an awesome experience as a whole. I love this album.

6 - Dripped, it's just damn good brutal death metal. Just stank face death from the land down under.

7 - Olkoth is the new breed of what technical/brutal death metal can be. They are very heavy while creating dark soundscapes and creating harsh atmospheres. This is a blast to listen to!

8 - Paraphilia is dauntingly heavy and aggressive from start to finish. These dudes have the balls to cover Bloodbath's "Eaten" as well and they do a damn good job of it.

9 - Turbid North's newest album is how death and doom should sound when combined. Such a thick sound with their great chugging riffs and mind melting guitar antics. I love it.

Albums of the week.

Why is Static-X always in week after week? I listen to these 3 albums on random and play along on guitar almost every night. It's wildly fun and warms me up. Then I try to write something of my own afterward. Someday, I'll record those and upload it to bandcamp.

The other bands I tagged? Must listen albums. Definitely check them out!

Static-X at number 1 once again. I can't stop listening to Wisconsin Death Trip! I can't wait for my guitar to arrive!!!

It's either Static-X or modern death metal greatness.

So yeah the new Stillbirth is bad ass and the new Devangelic is basically Annihilation of the Wicked 2.0.

Listen to em.
