There are few books that can make you laugh and cry at the same time and this book is one of them! Detained is one of the most heart-wrenching books published in 2021. It is disturbing at the same time to read about the harrowing description of the captives in the US Migrant Detention Centre. The book starts with the chapter titled Trapped, and it will hook you from there. It begins with the author who is detained, and she talks about the condition inside the cell where she was kept as a captive. The cell had people who were asylum seekers from parts of Latin America. The conditions were torturous where she was accompanied by fourteen more women.  The descriptions are bound to make you mortified, and the tortures that are described are afflicting to the human soul. This book is not a light read but it will open your eyes to understand the innocent lives who are captured based on a false shred of evidence. The torment that is given to people is gut-wrenching. There are few parts in the book that are emotional and the readers are bound to get teary eyes. The language is comprehensive, and it is written very effortlessly and elegantly. The words give proper emphasis to the situations that are described in the book. the plot development is smooth. Being a non-fiction book, it had a well-character development of the US officers. The author was able to convey the truth without involving racism or hurtful words. It depicts a disturbing reality of the lives that are traumatized in the Detention Camps. The highlight of the book is the dedication page, which says that this book is devoted to innocent lives in captivity.  The subtlety of the book that exposes the cruel side of humanity is irreversible to mental health. This book is highly recommended for everyone. It will give a different perspective towards the innocent lives who are detained and face cruelty of the laws that lack common sense. This book deserves to be a Bestseller! Book: Detained Author: @dee_lee_rambles *The book is available on Amazon in Paperback and Kindle format!
