Building something meaningful for artists takes more than industry knowledge & connections. It takes people who understand the creative process, recognize the challenges behind it, and genuinely care about artists’ future. Meet Mariah Vegas, co-host of Record & Reset! 🎧 She serves as the Director of Marketing & Artist Experience for the residency, 1-on-1 development mentor, and workshop educator. From live performances, artist branding, and understanding the person behind the art, Mariah brings a perspective rooted in helping creatives build something they can actually sustain. Rooted in research and real life experiences. She’s the one to tell you when you got a boogey hanging, when the opportunity isn’t right, when you’re doing too much, and when it’s time to pause for self care. She handles business, but does it with compassion and consideration for the artist and the life they’re building. We’ll let her tell you a little more about herself👀 Swipe through to explore her world, see what’s on her playlist and learn what Record & Reset means to her. 📍 Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico 📅 January 17–24, 2027 Artist applications and interviews close October 31, 2026 ‼️ Playlist credits: I See Why — Dee-A-Tee HOP OUT CHO FEELINS — Kal Banx, Smino & Buddy So Good (Ft. Finally! This last Saturday was the first time I've ever been to Grey Day. It's also been the first time in over seven years that I've been to a concert that I didn't have to work at. It was crazy hearing some of the first songs that got me interested in music production as far as making beats goes. It was crazy to stand there and hear tracks live that I spent hours deconstructing on my old PC, hunting down drumkits to find what sounds Scrim was using just to try and make the beat myself. Shout-out @suicideboys for putting on a great show and starting off your tour in Minnesota.

Did I Cook or Nah? The super short version of how I remade the sound for this commercial. How I do sound design and video related audio work typically falls into two different buckets. Premade tracks and sound placement, or in this case, making sounds and automation in real time while watching the video. Combining both is realistically how most sound designers and post-production teams work on video treatments. (After I made a few passthroughs on adding real-time FX's and instruments I ended up using pre-recorded foley and vox) It depends on the context, for videos with natural sounds I.e. dialogue, on-set sounds, etc. most of that is either cleaned up in post, or changed by foley artists, engineers, and talent using methods like ADR or simply recording audio to replace the "scratch". Some videos, like music videos, some ads, and smaller scale creative projects do sync-to-audio type videos, using a premade track that they plan the video sequences around. My preferred method when doing both video and audio work is to do video first, then fit the music to the video if applicable. Of course music videos and things where the audio is the original medium that was used for the project prioritize sync-to-audio, but when working on ads, films, games, etc. I always find forming the audio experience around the video sequences makes for a better presentation on both ends. #sounddesigner #playstation #synclicensing #advertising

Went and processed some film I had lying around. Found some photos from when Kelvino performed at 7th. Street Entry with Kaleta & Super Yamba Band. Dee and I did video and photo work for the show, and I also did Vinos vocal chain for his performance. Been a few years, and we've all only gotten better, keep on the lookout for both Kelvino and Dee-A-Tee dropping some tracks produced and engineered by me! They both got some heat that's been tucked away for too long.

A few months ago, @deeateeofficial and I traveled to Duluth to make some music content and created this. Video games have significantly shaped my production approach, influencing both my sync licensing and artist instrumentals. Growing up, I enjoyed games like Need for Speed, The Witcher Series, Halo, Battlefield, and Resident Evil. Through various media such as books, comics, video games, and movies, I constantly envisioned working on similar projects. Aligning music with on-screen visuals is crucial in film and gaming; it establishes the mood and helps viewers adopt a specific mindset that visuals alone may not fully convey. Next time you're bored at your computer, try muting a horror film and playing children's music instead. It's fascinating how soundtracks can directly influence our perception of visual content. #synclicensing #videogamemusic #filmmusic

I had an inspiring weekend collaborating with some talented creatives at WaterWaveTV. Dedicating a few days to new music is something I do regularly, whether for myself or others, because I believe in maximizing my craft whenever possible. Full-time audio production and marketing immerse me in industry insights, but nothing compares to the creative freedom of being in a studio. That moment when you're able to pour your passion into a project—free from deadlines or external pressures—it's a luxury few enjoy in today's fast-paced music and art scene. For me, dedicating time to your craft should always come before chasing the next big hit or viral sensation. Big shoutout to the artists who came through at both @waterwavetv and Alex's studio! Here are a few photos from the film archive! I often talk with colleagues about sharing their art with the world and emphasize that older projects remain valuable. You might have heard your songs countless times or seen the same photos and videos daily for weeks, but there are seven billion people on Earth who have never seen or heard your work! Remember, when you post a new picture, release a song, or perform, that doesn't diminish its impact; instead, it opens more opportunities for others to experience it. Many artists build careers based on work created years ago—three, five, even fifty years past. A classic remains a classic, and a hit stays a hit. Whether it’s made in your bedroom at fifteen or in a professional studio at thirty, your art remains valuable if you choose to value it. Someone might discover your work unexpectedly and decide to follow your path. SO GO AND CREATE SOMETHING TODAY; THE WORLD IS WAITING! #filmphotography #delta3200 #grainy

My thoughts on Minnesota 😔🧊 The place I was born and raised. A place that I’ve called home my whole life… It’s scary to see our neighbors living in fear. It hurts my soul, seeing my loved ones being emotionally affected. This is the moment that I speak up, and use my platform to stand for those whose families are being torn apart. To those who have lost their lives. It’s one thing to see the headlines and observe from your devices. But it’s another to WITNESS, and FEEL what’s going on. It hits different when it’s happening right in front of your eyes. The SHYFTER MOVEMENT has always been about compassion… it’s about breaking FREE from limitations. With what’s happening around ICE in Minneapolis right now, I think it’s important to ask ourselves… How do we fight for the dignity of those whose voices are being silenced? How do we stand up, and protect the ones who cannot protect themselves…?
