So much to say & so little time! Grateful for friends who ground me when I get overwhelmed and the lovely humans sharing time, laughter & labor.

Honored to be doing the work to build from the soil up! Enjoy the snapshots of time.. come on out & connect with the land. Its not always about doing work. Take a walk in the fields, feel the winds, watch the grass dance and plant the seed in your mind, body & spirit.

Enjoy the snapshots of dreams in motion ✨️

4 cities. 4 gatherings. 10 days. Ya girl is TIYAD. Many thanks to @asalhbhm, @cbcfinc, @savingplaces, & @blackurbangrowers for holding space for us to convene, strategize, and love on each other. When I realized these were all back to back this was my reaction: 😳🫤🙄😲🤬😣😭 I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it, but I knew that I needed to be present. The work we are doing @trustforpublicland is dependent upon community & coalition. In each place there were folks beautifully dedicated to their labor, eager to conspire toward our bright shared future. In hundreds of conversations we embodied each of the principles of the nguzo saba, especially ujima - collective work & responsibility. We are living through trying times, but we can’t get weary in well doing.

This is not a struggle that we win through brute force or the power of our minds alone. The arduous work before us requires an unyielding, unapologetic, and unshakeable revolutionary love. We must love us enough to keep going when all seems lost. We must love us enough to recommit ourselves to study. We must love us enough to organize. We must love us enough to treat one another with care. We must love us enough to not discard each other. We must love us enough to look fear in the face and dismantle it with love. I know it’s easier said than done, but I bear witness that love is keeping me these days.

I got back home just in time to celebrate Jubilee Day at @fiskuniversity. (So 5?) It marks the day the original @fiskjubileesingers left for their first tour. I finally went to @thenmaam to see the Jubilation exhibit and I marveled at their sacrifice. I feel this way about all ancestors whose harvest I reap. I can only imagine the love they must have felt for all of us to do what they did. I pray our efforts multiply benefits for the ones coming behind us.

Sunday we closed out @blackfoodjustice day w/ something I’ve said countless times, but this time I wept because now we are quoting an ancestor and it hit different. “It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win. We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains.”

See you in the whirlwind. 😉😘
