Celebrating 26 amazing years of flavor, community, and consistency at Emporium Thai 🎉 A truly beloved gem in Westwood that locals (and visitors) keep coming back to because when it comes to Thai food, they’ve set the standard.

We had the best time indulging in some of their signature favorites: rich and creamy crab 🦀 curry, refreshing mango 🥭 salad, bold and zesty spicy beef salad, crispy wonton rangoon, flavorful Phuket wings, and of course, the perfect sweet ending with mango sticky rice.

Cheers to 26 years of incredible dishes and many more to come 🥂

My bestie @dczollicoffer & I had the honor to preview @emporiumthai’s newest venture called @emporiumthaimarket on Sawtelle. After an iconic run for 26 years in Westwood Emporium Thai an official @thaiselectusa restaurant is opening up a second location featuring elevated modern Thai cuisine. The food, decor, art & vibe are sensational. We had a blast catching up with all the foodie OGs I first met when I crossed over from acting to culinary arts nearly 2 decades ago like my sheroes @caroledixon, @gayotguide’s @sophie_gayot, @wendy_tuttle & the ever entertaining @deependdining. Thank you again @calicultured & @lawrencemooreassociates for bringing me back into this deliciously beautiful world after a long hiatus. Congrats again Emporium Thai on your new location. 🔁 from @deependdining: "I only learned of my friend Chuy Tovar’s real last name after I found out about his tragic death in a car accident recently. I’ve always known him as Chuy Nomas. That made sense to me “Nomas…No mas!” Because whenever Chuy was around the party never stopped. The special liquid spirit he brought with him, usually a lively mezcal or tequila sloshing around in an unlabeled bottle, flowed freely, endlessly from his hands. You had to tell him “no more!” But then he smiled his irresistible smile, charming as hell, and you’d somehow want to drink a little more. Just before the first tequila shot, I’d shout, “Chuy, get us outta here!” Then we’d be off into hyperspace. Everyone loves Chewie and everyone loves Chuy.

Chuy introduced me to chef Juan Mondragon and helped Valentino Herrera and I produce an episode of our YouTube show Kamikaze Kitchen featuring chef Mondragon. Chuy has a lot of screen time in the episode. If you’re interested—Link here: https://youtu.be/1ETrpsVd48A?si=hGIq7UtARwrb29jy

Chuy’s gregarious, bon vivant, life-of-the-party reputation preceded him which is why he was a must at my summer backyard bashes.

As the years pass, we all get caught up in the busyness of life, and see people less frequently, lose touch, and forget to check in. Chuy and I messaged each other once in a while even when we saw each other less often. So much time had passed since we had a drink together or gave one another a big bear hug like long lost brothers. It may have been more than a decade. But however long it’s been, he’d come into my thoughts now and then. I wondered when I’d see him again. Have that next drink. Share another story. Laugh another laugh. Tragically, I let too much time go by. But I still have all my happy memories of Chuy. For that I’m very grateful. Rest in peace, my friend, Chuy. Chuy, get us outta here!!"

That wraps up how much fun the first @mbfoodandwine festival was last weekend in @manhattanvillage

Thank you @lawrencemooreassociates for all that you do to put these amazing #foodandwinefestivals together to raise money for worthy causes. This #manhattanbeachfoodandwine raised money for @ccaplosangeles a nonprofit that provides underserved teens pathways to pursue careers in the restaurant and hospitality industry. Annually, C-CAP provides culinary, job and life skills in 186 schools across the United States from Arizona to Baltimore, Camden, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City & Long Island, Newark, Philadelphia, suburban Maryland, and Washington DC.
