The great Georges St-Pierre talks about his approach to sparring a new guy. Sometimes a new person is intimidated by the person they are sparring with so they go extra hard or extra light. If your the experienced one you should let them know how hard your going and whatever else.

You want to be a fighter?

Give it everything you’ve got.

And when you think you’ve given it all—give more.

When your body tells you to stop—don’t.

That’s where fighters are made. 🥊

Come train with Hurricane Boxing and find out what you’re really made of.

Discipline trumps everything.

Talent fades. Motivation comes and goes. Discipline is what keeps you moving when nobody's watching.

Grateful to have had the privilege to be in my man’s @zach.larue corner this past weekend for his MMA debut. He’s young in the game but worked like a veteran in preparation for this fight! Good money & All Hail The Academy.

🥊 A World Title Defense for... $1?

OTD, 76 years ago, the legendary Sugar Ray Robinson defended his World Welterweight title against Charley Fusari at Roosevelt Stadium in NJ.

But the real headline wasn’t his 15-round unanimous decision victory - It was his paycheck. Robinson accepted a purse of exactly ONE DOLLAR for the fight.

Why? He donated the entirety of his massive fighting purse to the Damon Runyon Memorial Fund for Cancer Research. Proof that a true champion’s legacy is measured by what they give back, not just what they take home. 👑✨

Sugar Ray then chased even more greatness, moving up to conquer Jake LaMotta and capture the World Middleweight Championship. 🏆

Here are the finishes from every @pittsburghacademy fighter that fought at the sunny days arena for 247fc last night. @jacobloeffert with the quick overhand right KO in the first round, myself with a mounted gilly in the 2nd, and @zach.larue with the first round finish via absolute sheer fear

The Highlight, The Habit, The Hazard. 🥊

If you’re going to switch stances or step through with that rear hand to create a lead hook, you HAVE to protect the house.

🔹 The Highlight: Stepping through to turn that rear hand into a devastating lead hook.

🔹 The Habit: Dropping that guarding hand during the step—leaving yourself open to get countered with the exact same shot.

🔹 The Hazard:
Retreating in a straight line instead of cutting an angle on the exit.

Fix your exit routes. Try it, drill it, leave the straight line behind. 🦾

The Shoulder Trap Drill 🥊

Overrotate your head movement and you open the back door for the counter.

Stay tight to the shoulder, keep your position, and make them miss without giving up the angle.

Save this drill before your shoulder position gets you caught.
