🪶Today marks the final day of first-round GRAMMY® voting! 🗳️❤️ It was such an incredible honor to contribute violin, viola, and cello 🎻 to TONGVA SONGS: WE ARE HERE (EKWA CHEM) by the Tongva Ensemble, alongside the wonderful @connorchee on piano 🎹 This beautiful album celebrates the songs, living language, ancestral connections, and resilience of the Gabrieleño San Gabriel Band of Mission Indians, the First People of the greater Los Angeles Basin and surrounding regions. Relatives of all ages – where do you go to listen to LIVE modern NDN/Indigenous music in Los Angeles County– for FREE? You’re invited to sit in music and intergenerational community on Sacred Land: Siban’gna– the site of the FIRST-EVER land-back transfer from a church to an established tribal government in California and Los Angeles County (Gabrieleno/Tongva). Substances of any kind will be prohibited. UNA (United Native Artists) is a music event for NDN-country designed to amplify and unite Native/Indigenous artists & musicians on Sacred Land. All expression through modern-genres, traditional languages, and music styles will be encouraged and supported. The second ever UNA will showcase performances by Joe Rainey, Two Lips, Ham:u, Bazille. Happy #IndigenousPeoplesDay! Every single day is IPD feat. some of my favorite people 🩵🩵🩵 1. Find us in everything you already love. We are everywhere! You just have to know how to spot us. 👀 2. Follow + support Indigenous work. The work we do in our communities are not just 9-5s, it’s life-saving. Follow and donate to the organizations I am proud to call home with amazing people doing the work every day: @lwiiifoundation + @thechapterhousela + @siaa.stanford 🩵 3. Let us tell our own stories. Native women filmmakers are out here doing THE THING 🎬 Go support my dear friend @lorenkwaters (Tiger @tigerteefilm centering badass Native woman @danatigerart) who has been recently inducted into the Academy!!!
