We left home on October 2 to work at the store in Birmingham. Before we could return, an evacuation order for Hurricane Isaias was issued for our neighborhood. Then we headed to @highpointmarket to show @antiquedesignct After being without power for a while, everything in the fridge had to go, so we ordered a few essentials for our return. The delivery beat us home by 20 minutes.

Only on 30A does the neighborhood black bear welcome committee gather on your front porch to enjoy the apples, avocados, eggs, and French vanilla coffee creamer. Very much not what we ordered.

The Art of Timeless Living with Deke Rogers

The most unforgettable interiors are never created overnight—they are thoughtfully collected, carefully curated, and enriched by the stories they carry. In this inspiring episode of Beyond the Design, host Cray Bauxmont-Flynn - @cray.bflynn welcomes Deke Rogers - @dekecrogers founder of Collected for the Home - @collectedforthehome for a captivating conversation about antiques, craftsmanship, and the enduring beauty of timeless design.

With celebrated retail studios in Birmingham, Alabama, and New Orleans, Deke has become one of the South’s most respected voices in interiors, known for his extraordinary ability to blend history with modern living. His remarkable talent lies in creating homes that feel authentic rather than orchestrated—spaces where every piece has purpose, character, and a story to tell.

Throughout this engaging discussion, Deke shares why preserving the integrity of antique furnishings is essential to honoring their history. Rather than stripping away decades of character through over-restoration, he believes true luxury is found in embracing the rich patina, craftsmanship, and authenticity that only time can create.

Whether you’re a designer, collector, or homeowner, this conversation is a masterclass in creating interiors that transcend trends and celebrate the lasting beauty of craftsmanship, history, and intentional living.

Collected for the Home grew from a long-held vision shaped by travel, curiosity, and a love for objects with history and soul.

Building it alongside Marcus, my partner in life and in this journey, has given the work depth, balance, and meaning beyond what either of us could have imagined alone.

We’re honored to be included in Architectural Digest’s Excellence in Design: Alabama, featured in the AD100 issue, and grateful for the opportunity to share our Irondale showroom, our collection of antiques and decorative arts, and the story behind the space.

Most of all, thank you to our clients, friends, and the Irondale and Birmingham community who have believed in this vision, supported the store, and allowed us to be part of your homes. This has always been about connection, thoughtful collecting, and creating spaces that feel personal and lived in. We’re deeply thankful for every piece of that journey.
