WHO AM I?

I’m grateful for Suicide Prevention Month and for every space created to honor the lives we have lost, support those who are still fighting, and have honest conversations about mental health.

I once thought depression wasn’t real. I believed suicide was something only “weak” people considered—until I became the person fighting depression and suicidal thoughts.

This poem, “Who Am I?”, comes from that personal battle. It reflects the moments when I lost my direction, questioned my identity, and struggled to recognize my own worth—but also the journey of finding my voice and choosing to keep living.

Please check on your people—even the strong ones. Send the random text. Make the unexpected phone call. Sit down and truly listen. One genuine moment of connection can remind someone that they are seen, valued, and not alone.

If you are struggling, please don’t fight in silence. In the United States, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

Last night was a beautiful reminder that the work does not always happen at a desk or during traditional business hours. I started the evening celebrating Dallas’ Best Real Estate Agents and ended it at the African American Real Estate Professionals Annual Event. Two incredible rooms filled with great people, meaningful conversations and new opportunities to grow.

The more connections we build, the more knowledge we gain. Stronger relationships lead to better resources, broader perspectives and more opportunities. All of that makes me a more informed, versatile and well connected real estate professional for my clients.

It was truly great seeing so many people I respect and enjoy throughout the evening. I’m looking forward to more conversations, collaborations and time together in the year ahead. Great times, great people and all part of the work I love! ❤️

Recently I stepped onto a golf course, not because I had it all figured out, but because I’m committed to trying new things. Every new skill starts with awkward swings, missed shots, and lessons learned.

There are times when block destruction isn’t about making the perfect shed.

Sometimes… it’s about creating FORCE.

As a force defender, your responsibility isn’t always to make the tackle. Your responsibility is to make the ball carrier go where YOU want him to go.

When there isn’t enough space to shock and shed, it’s time for Same Shoulder. Same Leg.

Attack the blocker with leverage.
Strike with violence.
Run your feet.
Compress the edge.
Force the ball carrier to redirect straight into pursuit.

That physical collision accomplishes two things:

🔥 It sets the tone that this game will be won through physicality.
🔥 It forces offensive coaches to rethink their game plan because running at you comes with consequences.

Football is leverage.
Football is violence under control.
Football is making the offense play left-handed.

This play from my time with the Houston Texans wasn’t just a tackle—it was a momentum shift. One violent rep can change a drive, a game, and the confidence of an entire defense.

Dominate your assignment.
Control your gap.
Control the ball.
Control the game.

“If you cannot control your rhythm, how can you control the plays you make?”

🔥 NO RHYTHM = NO STATS

As a defender, whether you’re a linebacker or defensive lineman, if you’re rushing the passer, you cannot afford to be one-dimensional.

Dominant pass rushers understand this:

Changing your rhythm changes the blocker’s reality.

If every rush looks the same…
If every get-off feels the same…
If every approach carries the same tempo…

You become predictable.

And predictable defenders get neutralized.

Great rushers control the rep by controlling their rhythm.

They know when to:
⚡ Explode with sudden speed
⏸️ Hesitate and force a pause
💥 Transition violently into power
🎯 Counter with finesse at the perfect moment

This is what disrupts timing.
This is what creates hesitation.
This is what creates sacks.

🎯 COACHING POINTS:
✅ Master your stance for explosive rhythm off the ball
✅ Develop disciplined get-offs
✅ Change the tempo of your rush intentionally
✅ Never give blockers the same picture every rep
✅ Use rhythm changes to set up counters
✅ Control your pace so you can control the play

No rhythm = no disruption.

@dekodawatson played 10 years in the National Football League. He is a member of the 1% club. And even he NEEDS this.

Like so many men, he was never given tools to regulate his nervous system.

•Not when he was competing.
•Not when he retired.
•Not when the cheering stopped.

This isn’t just about athletes, it’s about fathers, leaders, providers…men carrying more weight than they show because they were taught to “man up” at any perceived sign of weakness.

This is coherent breathing. Slow. Intentional. About 6 breaths in, 6 breaths out.

It shifts the body out of survival mode and tells the brain:..you’re safe now. When practiced regularly:

✨It lowers cortisol.
✨It restores internal calm.
✨And it directly supports mental health by reducing anxiety, chronic stress, and emotional overload.

Because strength was never the problem. Safety was.

You can look strong on the outside and still live in survival mode on the inside.

•This is nervous system training.
•This is recovery that goes deeper than muscles.
•This is what real strength looks like.

Breathe. On Purpose. 🫁
