The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young The women in Juneโ€™s family are cursed to go mad. It happened to Juneโ€™s mother years ago, and now itโ€™s happening to June. Sheโ€™s seeing and hearing things that arenโ€™t there, like the red door that sheโ€™s determined not to open. When Juneโ€™s beloved grandmother dies, she leaves June with one last message: to open the door. Without giving too much away, Juneโ€™s mother didnโ€™t disappear- she went through the door. And June isnโ€™t cursed- her timeline has been fractured. I didnโ€™t know what was happening with the concept of time in this book but I loved it anyway. #bookstagram #theunmakingofjunefarrow #magicalrealism #sciencefiction #romance

It has everything: a historical setting (which I absolutely LOVE!), the quest for emancipation, a strong and courageous heroine, Eddie, who is ridiculously handsome ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ (although he could have stepped in a little more often), an intriguing mystery, and plenty of social commentary, from inequality to corruption and asylums. I knew from the beginning that her uncle was involved in something! And when she told him everything, I wanted to strangle her. I knew he had faked his innocence all along! Fay and Oscar were also great characters, and the final connection with Eleanor Owens/Mad Mary was just perfect. She deserved her happily ever after! โค๏ธ My only complaint? The ending! ๐Ÿฅบ I needed a more emotional reunion with Eddie, preferably with him chasing after her as the train leaves. OR AT LEAST GIVE US A KISS! ๐Ÿคงโค๏ธ #jenniferdonnelly #historicalfiction #historicalmystery #mysterybooks #historicalromance

โœจAudiobook Reviewโœจ ๐Ÿ“– Our Strange Duet by Erin A. Craig ๐ŸŽง Narrated by a full cast (including Beatrice Penny-Toureฬ, Jordan Donica, Jordan Fisher, Sierra Boggess, Katrina Lenk, Norm Lewis, Stephanie Styles, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Dan Stevens) ๐Ÿ–Š๏ธ Published by @delacortepress (print) / @prhaudio (audio) I did an immersive read with the audiobook and the absolutely gorgeous physical copy (swipe to see how pretty it is!) 5 stars, no notes. This is a must read for fans of Phantom of the Opera. It takes a known, beloved story, and adds even more depth to it. The weaving in of song lyrics into the story was so enjoyable and felt like tiny Easter eggs throughout. I cannot recommend the audiobook enough - narrated by a full cast with background music from the show, itโ€™s an incredibly immersive experience. QOTD: What is your favorite musical?
