Delaney in GLW Couture

This shoot idea was sparked by the first time Delaney and I had a session. We were talking about different fashion brands. Some she would mention I had never heard of BUT I had heard of Mirror Palais. From there it would be not so random of sending inspiration images of this idea we were trying to bring to life.

Months and months went by when I received a message from Delaney saying hey I found the perfect designer to help with this vision, she’s here in the valley. From there things snowballed and we got to planning. This is where Grace came in with her amazing designs. So amazing in fact as we were wrapping up, we were approached by a couple wanting to purchase the items.

The day of the shoot many mishaps occurred. From makeup, the unexpected heat, equipment faults, and cameras taking a tumble. All that to say even though the odds started to stack against this session we came out on top.

At this last happy hour mixed a friend/colleague expressed to me that she hadn’t fully realized the heaviness of some of what I had shared with her and others. Sometimes I fail to notice when I get on heavier subjects as it’s just a normal subject to me but to others it might not be something they’ve ever experienced or heard. Sharing them is the best way I know to connect with people and learn from their experiences

I’ve been trying to portray those experiences and emotions throughout my photography. We ain’t all smiles over here, we want the real, the tears, the stress, the struggle, the triumph. Of course we love the smiles and happiness but also really want the real. If you are having a wedding or portrait there’s going to be stress(we hope for the least), nerves, tears, joy and loss.

We don’t often look at the loss during weddings but there’s always someone who couldn’t make it be it flights, work, other obligations, the loved one who is no longer with us. There is this delicate balance of all of these emotions swarming creating this aura of the day.
