Architects don’t just design buildings!
We were excited to present our research, “Body-Scaled Muqarnas,” at ACADIA 2026 in Detroit!

Exploring the intersection of computational design, fashion, and cultural identity, our project reinterprets Iranian architectural geometries through recursive symmetry and digital fabrication, bringing muqarnas to the scale of the body as wearable architecture.

A heartfelt thank you to our thesis director, @eloueini , for his guidance and encouragement, and to @tulanearch & @tulanearchlabs for supporting our work. Special thanks to @nk.lc , Director of the Fabrication Labs, for his support in bringing these ideas to life.

Excited to be back in New Mexico this weekend to share ongoing research into 3D printed clay-bagasse composites at the Earth USA International Conference on Architecture and Construction with Earthen Materials. This work, completed in collaboration with my amazing research assistant @delaramkhoshhal, explores the possibilities of 3D printed clay reinforced with bagasse, an abundant fibrous byproduct of industrial sugarcane extraction. Our paper, “Printing a Regional Legacy: Clay-Bagasse Composites and Louisiana’s Circular Traditions of Bio-Based Construction,” situates the work within local histories of geo- and bio-based material practices, recasting them through processes of additive manufacturing.

TRIARCH is a project that we did with students at Tulane University last Spring for the the elective course Arch 3969.

The structure operates within the framework of 3D graphic statics and implements different methods of geometric-based form finding, to create a compression-only planar wood body structure composed of metal plate connections and post-tensioning steel rods. The form utilizes the least amount of material needed to maintain structural integrity. The constraints of the project included the use of exclusively planar elements to avoid the use of 3D printing and the six-axis CNC machines, and it was meant to implement no more than 28 nodes.
The realized structure was designed using methods of geometry-based form finding to consider the compressive, and tensile forces as well as the self-weight of the structure. The length of each member in the built structure is proportional to the amount of force applied on it. The computational form diagram was comprised of 39 members all of which reflected the amount of force applied in the force diagram. The resulting form comprises of a central body and three arms.

Is architecture the art of challenging the perception of spaces, invite curiosity and evoke ambiguity? This project was an exploration of seeing the familiar in unfamiliar ways, reimagining forms, and embracing the poetic tension between clarity and mystery.
