Back at it. 2 matches 2 submissions.

I tried returning to competition last year for the first time since my knee injury in 2019, but ended up dislocating my shoulder..

Happy to be injury free, competing alongside my team @groundgametheory

"...when a person, instead of adopting metaphors that come naturally and opportunely in his way, rummages the whole world in quest of them, and piles them one upon another; when he cannot so properly be said to use metaphor as to talk in metaphor, or rather when from metaphor he runs into allegory, and thence into enigma, his words are not the immediate signs of his thought; they are at best but the signs of the signs of his thought."

~George Campbell,
From "The Philosophy of Rhetoric"

“Pale amber sunlight falls across
The reddening October trees,
That hardly sway before a breeze
As soft as summer: summer’s loss
Seems little, dear! on days like these.”

Words of the Day:

Triskaidekaphobia - Fear of the number 13

Friggatriskaidekaphobia or Paraskevidekatriaphobia - Fear of Friday the 13th

Friggatriskaidekaphobia is the original extension of Triskaidekaphobia which originates from Frigg, the Norse Goddess for Friday.

Paraskevidekatriaphobia is the newer extension of Triskaidekaphobia. It originates from Paraskevi which is Greek for Friday.

There are some great articles out there on why some are so fearful of this day. And real things that happen because of those fears. For instance no floor or room 13 in many buildings, ships don’t launch on the 13th etc.

Christianity added to fears since many say the crucifixion took place on Friday the 13th 🤦🏻‍♂️

And of course Hollywood and their Horror genre has added greatly to the fear and anxiety some suffer.

If anything remotely bad happens on this day it just compounds with fears some already have. So much some can’t leave their house on this day.

With that said … #happyfridaythe13th

“This ride that takes me through life
Leads me into darkness but emerges into light
No one can ever slow me down
I'll stay unbound”

Been a while since I wrote a speech, not much of my thing to express here; these are the kinds of times that you have to not only be lucky but also be grateful for as well and not take anything for granted. It didn’t really matter if they live close or far away from home, what matters is the awesome fun-filled vibes that are just good for your soul. I’m very grateful that I get to spend some of the best times that I probably haven’t had in so long like that. NGL, I was in tears when writing this because of all the changes that happened within a year; while so much happened (won’t lie I wasn’t really myself for a couple of weeks this month cuz how things changed within a year from the dark memories), I’m glad I got to grow closer with many people this year and meet new awesome people as well; I love you guys… always… thank you…; let’s make the 2nd half even awesome as well! 🫶🏼🖤🤘🏼
