20 YEARS BEHIND US, 20 YEARS AHEAD! / From the archives Luc Deleu & T.O.P. Office / Dapper Bruce Lafitte

For the coming months, we will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the gallery. To mark this milestone, we’ll dive into our archives and share photographs that retrace what we have been doing over the years.

We continue with the show Luc Deleu & T.O.P. Office / Dapper Bruce Lafitte.

The exhibition took place from March 18 until April 29, 2018 in our current gallery space.

We hope you’ll enjoy this journey through the gallery’s history and archives. Throughout the year, we will continue to reveal more exhibitions and moments from the past, so stay tuned for what’s coming next!

Goed gezegd, Luc.

En jij, deel jij Lucs mening? Laat het me weten! 😉

Studio Stadswaag began as a proposal for an artwork in public space for the renewed Stadswaag square. It quickly evolved into a co-creation process in which the boundaries of the project kept expanding.

The former garage of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, unused for more than fifty years, is being transformed into Studio Stadswaag: a space for students, their work, and encounters with neighbours and passers-by.

While the space is not yet in use, its necessity and urgency have been explored through years of research. Protocols have been developed to support its future life.

BLESS, Luc Deleu, Brandon LaBelle, Emilia Schupp and Rirkrit Tiravanija contributed, from within their own interests, desires and disciplines, to a protocol for (art in) public space.

Studio Stadswaag is a collaborative project on art in public space that started in 2024 as a joint venture between the ArchiVolt research group of @royalacademyantwerp, @stadsform, @districtantwerpen and Platform Kunst in Opdracht / Flanders.

Published within the context of the Expanding Academy Publication Series, edited by Nico Dockx and Judith Wielander at @royalacademyantwerp.
