I only know, because I’m also that someone 😅

If this sounds like what you need, here are a few of my family’s go-to spots:

01) Grand Ole BBQ in El Cajon (in this video): if we drive here from the coast, you know it’s worth it. The food is excellent (on the weekends they literally run out of stuff), the vibes are high, and I can have a drink while my kids run around and we all win!

02) New English Brewing in Sorrento Valley: Turf yard surrounded by chairs and picnic tables with the best blueberry beer ever. Your kid will leave with a new friend, and you might leave without one of your toys. Pizza and Mexican food options right nearby. We love this place.

03) Coronado Brewing in Bay Park: kid and dog-friendly outdoor patio that’s huge + extensive beer menu and we actually love the food. They serve dino nuggets so my kids are always happy and I’m in love with their nachos and veggie pizza.

04) Crack Shack: do not skip their kids meal (even if you’re an adult), I think it’s the best deal around, and the downtown location actually has my favorite kid-friendly outdoor space, but the PB location is a viiiiibe.

05) Padres game in Gallagher Square: if you’re looking for more of an activity, check out the Gallagher Square tickets for a Padres Game. They’re way cheaper than a stadium seat and you and your kids can actually move around, plus there’s a great fenced-in playground.

06) Del’s Hideout near SDSU: amazing bbq and a legit fenced-in (can you sense a theme) play space that’s best for kids 6 and under. Plus a great happy hour menu 2-5.

San Diego kind of rocks at lowkey places where kids are welcome, you get to be outside, and the food doesn’t suck. This was never something we experienced in NYC or LA, so I’m just always grateful!
