DE LYLA (@delylaofficial) looks back at KICKDRUM: „I’ve wanted to become a musician since I was a little child. Growing up in the Caribbean, I didn’t see many people my age pursuing music seriously it felt like something that only happened on TV, especially in places like America with child stars and big industries. Even so, I always felt drawn to it. For a long time, I kept that dream to myself because it felt impossible, but the desire never left.“

🔎 KICKDRUM newcomer radar already detected DE LYLA one year ago. Today she guests at the mag again and speaks about if she found her way to music, or if music found her:

„It was both. Music found me, but I also had to find my way to it. I had to discover the version of music that people were ready to hear. That didn’t mean I wasn’t being true to myself it just meant that if I wanted to be heard, I had to explore different directions for a moment before fully stepping into my own sound.“ 🗣️

Finally, DE LYLA has something her fans can look forward to in the coming weeks and months: „Expect the unexpected. It might not make sense at first, but you’re going to love it. What’s coming is bold, extravagant, and very intentional.“
