Vampire school is out for the summer 🩸💜

What a whirlwind the last six months have been. What a fulfillment of heart. What a wild way to find out just how capable you are. To have every question or doubt about your skill be met with, “you got this”. I’m simply so grateful.

I’m sure most actors would not agree, but I really loved being a swing. It was challenging in all the right ways while scratching such an itch in my brain. It made me feel smart for I think the first time in my life. And the cherry of it all was having my family, both blood and chosen, see me get to do what I love most.

And these people! I miss seeing these beautiful faces every day. The comradery, compassion and care every one of these talented humans dedicated to this show and each other was truly something special ✨

Mad love for @bloodloveshow, creative, cast and crew. Until we meet again in hell ❤️

We closed Blood/Love off Broadway two weeks ago. I’ve been sleeping 11+ hours a night since I got home if that gives a sense of the energy I poured into the show the past many months/years. This was such a profound experience for me, and it will take me a while to fully process and reflect, but today I want to post a few photos of closing night so I can at least remind myself that we did it. I did it! 62 performances in 12 weeks. Whew.

And what is “it”, exactly? And more importantly, why? Why have I been so driven to keep pushing this forward?

As humans we all possess a deep desire to be fully seen. To do things that terrify us yet make us feel truly alive. To be part of something bigger than yourself, to be a part of a community. To find joy in the big things and the small things. But most importantly, to give & recieve love. That’s what this show does for me, and that is why I chose this medium to express our music instead of a much simpler path. It’s really not about ME, for me. The “we”, the collective creation of art with people who exude love & vulnerability & authenticity is why we did all of this, and why I do hope the show continues in some way, although I truly do not yet know what that looks like.

I have hundreds of photos from this production but I love these from our closing, particularly the ones of our final group circle and final curtain call. Lots of tears and lots of hugs- you can feel the love in this beautiful group of people.

And my tears are flowing again writing this as I am mourning the end of one of the most beautiful chapters of my life, so I will end here for now. I know it’s not over- I’m grateful to have made many friendships that will last a lifetime, and I know we all have beautiful chapters ahead of us to write but damn. This was a good one.

Love you all 💜
