This morning I told the boys we had two events today that they both had to attend since #PJ didn’t have a football 🏈 game today. #BigPat & PJ attended a community clean up in our beloved #Deanwood & attended #CapitolView day at the #EastCapitolUrbanFarm
They participated in a food demo and made pasta salad which was delicious and nutritious! I truly appreciated spending time with my boys in our beloved Ward 7 Community.

How does 1 unit of gas cost $20.55 when I haven’t cooked since April? 🛑
I’m looking directly at my Washington Gas bill. My previous meter reading was 2,354. My current reading is 2,355. That is 1 CCF of consumption. I haven’t turned on my stove to cook a single meal all month—yet my bill is $20.55.
Look at this line-item breakdown:
Customer Charge
Distribution Charge
Pipe Adjustment
Natural Gas Supply
Right-of-Way Fee
Delivery Tax
Are we paying for actual gas, or are we paying high connection fees and corporate surcharges because doing business costs more? Are those corporate operational expenses being directly shifted onto the customer?
This isn’t just about my bill. It’s about transparency for every resident in the District—whether you own or rent. Utility costs are surging while our wages remain stagnant.
Look at the regional economic landscape: hundreds of thousands of Black and Latina women across the DC-Maryland-Virginia region have been displaced from the workforce in recent years. In a city with a total population of around 770,000 residents, that loss of economic stability is staggering. People are overworked, underpaid, or searching for work, while everyday basic survival costs keep rising.
We need answers and oversight. How are utility rates approved, and who is @votemendo @mdc_dsa @dcdemocrats @cmwendellfelder

Never understood why people call folks out their name consistently but @repayannapressley is a US Congresswoman not a $itch!

@reallauraloomer look in the mirror 🪞 and you will see the $itch you are referencing because it is not my sis from Massachusetts!

DC families need more support — not fewer places to turn. As a single mother who is the sole income that provides for a two growing boys the end of the month couldn’t come fast enough. However, I am thankful for the Services and Support Family Success Centers have given me and my boys. I deeply respect and appreciate the Deanwood Family Sucess Center and the team of dedicated staff who takes every donated item I have given over the years and helped another Ward 7 resident. As a survivor of domestic violence me and my boys know first hand what it means to build community from head to toe with nothing but love and hard work! For that reason I write this request.

I’m calling on Councilmembers Parker, Crawford, Pinto, and White to protect and restore funding for DC’s Family Success Centers in the CFSA budget.

Family Success Centers help residents connect to housing supports, SNAP, Medicaid, childcare resources, utility assistance, school enrollment help, employment support, and other services that keep families stable.

These centers are prevention. They help families before things become a crisis.

Cutting this funding would hurt real people, real families, and real neighborhoods.

If DC is serious about youth safety, family stability, and community wellness, then we must fund the programs that keep families housed, fed, insured, connected, and supported.

Restore funding for DC’s Family Success Centers.

Cierra Craig is a proud Ward 5 resident, community advocate and Democratic leader who believes strong communities are built when residents and local employees feel seen, heard and represented. Her commitment to service was shaped as a union Vice President, where she represented hundreds of public sector employees and advocated for fairness, accountability and dignity in the workplace. Cierra has dedicated her career to public service and community engagement, ensuring residents have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives. She currently serves as Vice Chair of the Ward 5 Democrats, where she works to strengthen community relationships, increase voter participation, and keep Ward 5 engaged and empowered. Cierra is running for Ward 5 Democratic Committeewoman because she believes leadership starts with listening. She is committed to bridging generations, honoring longtime residents and inspiring new voices. She believes when residents are connected and represented, Ward 5 doesn’t just grow — it thrives.

The DC Delegate’s seat has been held by a strong woman for over three decades. Just because Eleanor Holmes Norton is retiring doesn’t mean we should change that 😎

It was my honor to speak this evening with the Women’s National Democratic Club of Washington DC to lay out how I plan to continue the proud female tradition of the DC Delegate seat!
