“Tortured Existence” takes the aggression, speed and rawness of Thrash Metal and pushes it into genuinely savage territory with crushing riffs, relentless drumming and vocals that sound like they’re coming straight from hell. ☠️

What makes this album so legendary is how violent and uncompromising it still sounds today. While many Thrash bands were becoming more polished and technical, Demolition Hammer sounded like they were trying to destroy everything in their path.🔥

The riffs are absolutely crushing, the drums never let up and the entire album feels like pure sonic warfare from beginning to end. Tracks like “44 Caliber Brain Surgery”, “Hydrophonic” and “Infectious Hospital Waste” show exactly why Demolition Hammer became one of the most feared bands in the underground.💀🔥

And this was only the beginning.
Tortured Existence laid the foundation for what would come next with Epidemic of Violence, an album that would push their brutality even further.

It’s honestly insane that Demolition Hammer never reached the same level of recognition as Slayer, Kreator or Exodus considering just how ferocious and ahead of their time they were.

Demolition Hammer “Epidemic Of Violence” (1992) I’m not too big on thrash metal but it’s thrash albums/bands like this that I can get into. That real aggressive and in your face style of thrash that’s just full of energy and is heavy as fuck. This album is fuelled with raw aggression and it’s relentless from start to finish and keeps up that energy the whole album. The guitar tone is stupid fucking heavy and fat sounding with such a big sound that makes this album so fucking heavy. Not to mention the fast and ferocious riffing that’s just nonstop speed that’s just absolutely ridiculous and skull crushing. These are some of the catchiest and fastest riffs ever, they’re played at such a speed and aggression and are matched with such catchiness that makes this record really easy to get into and to digest. Great tremolo riffs that are still stuck in my head and just powerful heavy down picking riffs that are so fucking relentless. Great great solos too that are so in and out, very fast solos but they’re catchy, memorable and do the trick. Very great song writing guitar wise and are some of my favourite thrash riffs ever on this record. The bass tone on this record matched the heaviness of the guitars just as well, I find with bassist/vocalists typically love to play super aggressively and Steve Reynolds seems to do that here. His tone is so deep and foul sounding, the bass is definitely heavier than the guitars and you can hear it in the back quite well and it’s just so deep sounding. A very powerful guitar tone. Steve’s vocals are also so fucking aggressive and attacking, it genuinely feels like he’s yelling at you as if you’re in the room with him LMAO!! I fucking love his approach to vocals too, he really knows how to make a catchy song. On songs like “Human Dissection” he breaks some of the words up into syllables which I find so interesting and satisfying in the way that he sings the lyrics. It goes along with the riffs so well and brings so much charisma and charm to his voice, as well as making his vocals more recognisable and distinct from others as you don’t see many vocalists doing that syllable type of thing. Demolition Hammer - Tortured Existence (1990)

Happy 36 year anniversary to one of thrash metal’s best records. This record is one of the heaviest instances of thrash known to man. With the assistance of Scott Burns this record has the same mid heavy sound like early Suffocation or ‘90 Napalm Death. It’s on the nose and over the top in some pockets but it’s a fun record all around and very important.
