Last night's Men's Circle was a success! Yesterday four good dudes got together in @bee_grateful_wellness's beautiful space to drop out of our minds, into our bodies, and be present with each other. What did that look like? It looked like having the bravery to show up to something entirely unfamiliar, And having the patience and curiosity to hear another man's story, And being willing to admit that we have work to do in relationship to our lives and to our selves. I am blessed lately to have a number of powerful women enter my life. Anytime I bring up #menswork or men's groups with them—having facilitated hundreds of meetings over 4 years—99% of the time I'm met with appreciation and enthusiasm that men are working on their shit. Their friends, partners, fathers, and uncles could all use some guidance. This to me is a decent sign that men's work is worth giving a shot. But don't do it for them, not primarily. Do it because it is a good thing to do— To realize that men are not only imperfect but inherently deserve the opportunity and encouragement to grow. To see all the ways our conditioning, pasts, and addictions keep us from living full, empowered lives—and to challenge them. We're working out details for our next Men's Circle in Rochester and would love to have you there. But if this isn't for you, or you're not sure, or you're wary of persuasive writing and anything that feels like a sale or preaching—I get it—then I'd only encourage this: Reach out to one man in your life this week and ask him how he's *actually* doing. Then give him the time to respond at length. This is men's work and slipping it into your daily life will change your life. Hope to see you at a circle soon, Derek
