Having this conversation on film with Dasan for the whole country to see ...maybe even the whole world wasnt something I had ever imagined doing... I was ready to go to prison and do my time and put it behind me .. But if being #vulnerable in this way helps another family come closer, heal, and gives a parent the #courage to build (or rebuild) this level of trust and communicationwith their children after a traumatic experience then the fear, unease, anxiety, and ultimately the RISK was worth it!

Its not Thursday but im feeling #nostalgic and trying to keep my mind on #positive things while im sick in bed... So flashback to April 2018 the #worldpremier of @tremaisondasan at @sffilm ... I had just launched my #kickstarter for #ResilientMrBall. Just quit my job after moving to a new place... This is when i moved from just #believinginmyself to #investing in my own talents and abilities. Im far from where I want to be but I'm proud to say that I'm even farther from where Ive was... Denali Tiller is an artist and filmmaker named one of 110 “Filmmakers To Watch” by @variety in 2015 for her short film Sons and Daughters of the Incarcerated — which grew into her feature documentary, #TreMaisonDasan.
She has worked with the US Agency for International Development, and is currently adjunct faculty at Rhode Island School of Design. Through her work, Denali is interested in empowering artists in systemic thinking, social justice and activism.
@TreMaisonDasan is a story that explores parental incarceration through the eyes of three boys—Tre, Maison, and Dasan. Following their interweaving trajectories through boyhood marked by the criminal justice system, and told directly through the child’s perspective, the film unveils the challenges of growing up and what it means to become a man in America.

I recently a long time ago decided that I wasnt going to let other people tell me whats possible and whats not for me. here I am less than 3 years out of prison traveling to 🇬🇷 Greece with my baby boy to share our story! I have been anxiety ridden all day just waiting for the time to come for it to be real and here we are waiting for our 15 min delayed flight on air 🇫🇷 France and all that anxiety has transformed into #gratitude and excitement... 4. The whole Mattioli clan dancing at @pmatt's wedding and @faloysius murdering the dance floor💃🏼
5. Kitchen dance party to karma kameleon, @andruwgeorge's jazzy video in the kitchen and all of Sunday at ACL😇
6. @portugaltheman opening their show at Stubb’s with a mashup of For Whom the Bell Tolls, Another Brick in the Wall pt. 2 and Purple Yellow Red & Blue😵
7. Traveling far & wide for work, including one trip to help orchestrate one of my best friend’s own weddings @ktsarah
