Have you ever noticed how coaches refer to their fighter’s team?

Sometimes, in comments, stories, or posts before a fight, you’ll see:
“Coach’s Name Team.”

And sometimes:
“Fighter’s Name Team.”

A small detail?
Not to me.

Because language tells you a lot about who is actually at the center of the system.

There’s a big difference between:

“You are part of my team.”
and
“I am part of your team.”

✅ In the first case, there is the coach, the gym, the brand, the system — and the athlete becomes just one piece of it.
Today, one fighter.
Tomorrow, another.
The day after tomorrow, someone else.

✅ In the second case, there is the athlete and their goal.
And people come together around that athlete:
striking coach,
grappling coach,
S&C coach,
physio,
nutritionist,
movement coach…

Everyone has their own education. Their own area of responsibility. Their own opinion.

But when fight week comes, we’re not trying to figure out whose name should come first. We become a wall around one person.
That’s why I’ve always written:
Namo Fazil Team.
SALLAHUDDIN Team.
And I’ve done the same with other fighters.

Not because I don’t have a name of my own.
But because this is not my fight.

It’s his fight.
His career.
His health.
His risk.
His dream.

And if I’m standing beside him, my job is not to make the athlete part of my own ego, brand, or gym.

My job is to become part of the system that helps HIM win.

That’s why I’ve always found it interesting to pay attention to the language coaches use.

TEAM COACH:
You fight for my team.

TEAM FIGHTER:
We fight for you.

Just a few words…
But sometimes a few words tell you everything about the philosophy behind working with an athlete.

That’s exactly why I have no problem filtering people out.
Not because I think I’m better than anyone else.

But because I refuse to waste my time on people looking for a magic pill instead of taking responsibility.

I don’t want to sell emptiness.
I want to work with athletes who understand one simple truth:
“Great athletes never train for just one hour in the gym.
Their real training continues long after the session is over”

That’s how champions are built.

Not by saying :“I want to train like Namo.”
by learning to think…like a champion.
