INLAKECH FESTIVAL 2026 | OFFICIAL AFTERMOVIE

🤍 Z celého srdce děkujeme všem umělcům, hudebníkům, průvodcům, stánkařúm, našim přátelům z domorodých kultur, dobrovolníkům a celému týmu, který do festivalu vložil tolik energie a lásky.

🌿A především děkujeme vám všem, kteří jste přijeli a byli toho součástí.

🐍Byly to tři neuvěřitelné dny. A i když žádné video nedokáže zachytit úplně všechno, věříme, že se nám podařilo uchovat alespoň kousek toho, co jsme společně prožili.

✨ Tohle byl INLAKECH FESTIVAL 2026.
Děkujeme, že jste u toho byli s námi. Už teď se těšíme, až se naše cesty znovu setkají.
INLAKECH — všichni jsme propojeni. 🤍

Short story:

When we first arrived in Samoa, we didn’t know what breadfruit looked like, that you could eat green bananas, what taro was, or that we would ever try fresh coconut cream.

The first meal we had was a simple coconut breadfruit curry with fresh coconut leaves. It was simple, but amazing.

From that moment until the very last day we stayed, most of our food was as simple and fresh as it could be.

When COVID shut down the world in 2020, we had no idea that we would stay for three years. But from the very beginning, we lived off the land and had to learn how to process and prepare local foods and eat the way most Samoans do.

On a daily basis, we ate taro, fa’i, or breadfruit fa’alifu (with coconut cream). And when we felt lazy, there was “saka” — without the coconut cream.

We made our first umu probably about a month after arriving in Samoa.

We didn’t expect cooking in an umu to be so labour-intensive, but it was worth every bit of effort. We cooked breadfruit, taro, bananas, fish, and vegetarian faiai. Faiai is coconut cream cooked in a coconut shell with something added to it, usually fish or tinned fish (elegi).

I don’t want to say that I mastered umu. That wouldn’t be true. But I learned enough to be able to do it all myself, and once I even showed one afakasi boy how it was done.

Filmed at Tiapapata art centre.

Thank you for watching and sharing and caring.

The new live action Moana got everyone talking again. The story might be fiction, but the culture isn’t. A lot of the movie is inspired by real Polynesian traditions. Let’s dive into the life of Samoans.
