This is what natural enhancement looks like 🦷

She came to me with peg laterals, smaller than average lateral incisor teeth that had always made her smile feel slightly off. Not dramatically, just enough to notice.

So we built a plan around her.

→ Invisalign to align and create the perfect foundation
→ Professional whitening to lift and brighten her natural shade
→ Composite bonding on the peg laterals to refine the shape and create a broader, more balanced smile

Swipe to see the annotated image, it shows exactly what changed and why.

The result is completely natural. Because that was always the only goal.

I think this is a conversation our industry needs to be having more often.

I completely understand why practices look overseas to reduce their laboratory costs. Dentistry is expensive to deliver, and everyone's trying to make the numbers work.

But I wonder whether, in trying to make dentistry more affordable today, we're overlooking what it might cost us tomorrow.

We're already facing challenges recruiting and training skilled dental technicians. And when work moves overseas, it's not just the revenue we're potentially losing, but opportunities to develop the next generation.

Then there's the environmental impact. 🌍

A 2026 study published in the British Dental Journal found that using local laboratories reduced the carbon footprint of the denture workflows studied by approximately 18% compared with global laboratory workflows.

That's before we even start thinking about the wider questions of accountability, traceability and the value of having technical support close to home.

I'm not against overseas laboratories. There are incredibly talented technicians all over the world.

But I do think we need to look beyond the price on the invoice.

Because the cheapest option today isn't necessarily the one that costs us the least in the long run.

I'd genuinely love to hear from dentists and technicians on this one. Are we considering the bigger picture when choosing where our laboratory work goes?

Research: Rosenblatt et al., British Dental Journal (2026).

“It is distinctive without being pretentious and beautiful without feeling overdone.”

That’s how @dr.arti.dentist describes Artistry Dental in this month’s Private Dentistry, where the practice features on the cover. The piece covers her journey from associate to owner, the challenges of building from a shell unit, and why every detail was designed around how patients feel when they walk through the door.

A proud moment for Dr Arti and for everyone who helped bring her vision to life.

Your smile, brought back to life. ✨

We enhanced this worn, discoloured smile with freehand layered composite bonding, creating symmetry, restoring shape and adding the subtle details that make teeth look real.

Every smile we create is bespoke. From softly natural to a brighter white, we choose the shade and shape together, considering your skin tone, facial features and personal preferences so the result feels right for you.

Here, a carefully chosen shade beautifully complements the patient’s deeper skin tone, creating a fresh, vibrant smile full of character.

A huge transformation and a very happy, confident patient, with no drilling or removal of natural tooth structure. 🤍

Your teeth, but better.

“The denture doesn't fit.”

Something ever lab hears, and one of the least helpful descriptions when trying to work out what's actually wrong. 😅

It's tempting to jump straight to a reline or remake, but are we actually fixing the problem or just guessing?

I've seen dentures fit beautifully on a model but fail completely in the mouth. And sometimes the fitting surface isn't even the issue!

A little more investigation can save a lot of unnecessary lab work.

Here are five things worth checking before sending that denture back to the lab. 🦷

Save this one for your next troubleshooting appointment!

Lovely to see my feature in Dentistry magazine this month! 🦷✨

From choosing dentistry as a teenager to my life at Billericay Dental Care, it's been quite a journey!

I had the opportunity to reflect on why I chose dentistry, the lessons I've learnt along the way and what I believe the future holds for our profession.

One thing hasn't changed in 17 years — my love for helping people feel confident in their smiles. I truly believe 'Every Smile is a Masterpiece'❤️

Thank you @dentistry.co.uk for featuring me!
