POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I've just shipped Issue 60.4 of DQ to our local printer, the last issue under my yearlong turn as associate editor. It was only natural that @susumukamijo's fabulous black poodle grace the cover, which DQ published on 55.4.

It's been an enormous responsibility to sit at the helm of this storied publication for its 60th anniversary in print, and it was fun the whole way down.

In addition to four gorgeous issues, we published two archival folios, curated two regular folios ("Prose: Research" and "Global Surrealisms"), mounted a gallery exhibit – a 12-month project in and of itself – and hosted a 60th birthday celebration.

A huge thanks to the whole DQ team, our contributors, our readers, and our partners across DU. A literary journal is a communal effort in every sense.

The journal is in great hands with incoming AE @versiprose. Don't worry, I'll be watching. 😗

Two days until PYRRHIC SYMPHONY (@univnebpress) arrives in the world! I began writing this book back in 2009 when I wasn’t sure if my first collection (what would, 11 years later, become INDEX OF HAUNTED HOUSES) would ever come to light. So, as I write in the first poem of the new book, “I said to hell with it and walked on full of hellfire & fluoridated water” & wrote poems without regard for anything other than what the poems demanded. Seventeen years later, thanks to the support of so many friends & family members, here we are. And I’m particularly thankful for all the editors & readers at all the journals, magazines, prizes, & anthologies that gave so many of the poems in this book their first printed home: @agni.magazine, @believermag, The Best American Poetry, @boulevardlitmag, @cincinnatireview, @denverquarterly, @gulfcoastjournal, @highcountrynews, The Literary Review, @miraclemonocle, @montrealprize, New American Writing, @newohioreview, The Offending Adam, @poetryintl, @poetryireland, @thepoetrysociety, @poetry_society, @prairie_schooner, @smartishpace, @torreyhousepress, @westbranchmag, & @zyzzyvamag. Like the landing lights on a pitch-black runway, they promised that this vessel would one day arrive safely home—a home that I’m delighted to have found at University of Nebraska Press.

Merging two of my professional worlds (@denverquarterly and DU Advancement) to produce a video feature on the meaningful work the journal has done for 60 years. Scott is camera-ready, as always!

Ridiculously proud of FACING PAGES, the 12-pane gallery exhibit we curated this year to celebrate 60 years of @denverquarterly. Featuring artifacts from Alice Walker, Joan Didion, Laura (Riding) Jackson, John Ashbery, Audre Lorde, and many others. This project really took me back to my dramaturgy days, and I loved every second of it.
