This one is a special one.

If you know me, you know how much I love the music and art of Ceschi Ramos.

His work has helped me — and a lot of people I know — get through some difficult times.

His album This Guitar Was Stolen holds a really important place in his catalogue for me personally.

The song Long Shot (the one being performed in this video) has always been one of my favorites.

When I first met Ceschi, he asked if I had any requests. I said “Long Shot.” He was genuinely surprised by the answer, and we ended up talking about how it’s one of his best songs and doesn’t always get the attention it deserves. As a fan, that became a really memorable moment for me.

Fast forward about a year, and Ceschi and Sam King have become part of our extended family. Since then, we’ve launched Les Swashbuckling Napoleons on vinyl for the very first time in collaboration with our Fake Four Inc. family, along with a tape and zine series with Sam King and the Crimewave crew.

The people we’ve met through all of this just keep expanding the circle. Every single one of them are incredible human beings, and we’re excited to see what the future holds.

This footage is from the 5th and final show of our Codefendants tour in Toronto.

It had been a long week, and this was the closing moment of the run. I was standing at the back of the venue when I faintly heard Ceschi say, “Darryl, get up here…”

That moment meant — and still means — so much to me.
Getting to stand on stage with some of my favorite artists, singing one of my favorite songs… that’s something I’ll never forget.

Much love.

Do you have a memorable moment with Ceschi, Sam, or one of your favorite artists? Tell us about it in the comments!

I know I am the luckiest person on the planet. @80strashbaby (Catherine) is the most beautiful, & hands down the smartest person I’ve ever met. Eight years ago today we made it FB official. lol. I know I have never been in love with my best friend, & partner, but it is the absolute best. I couldn’t ask for anything more. She’s the love of my life. To another 80 years. I love you, my dear. #timeflieswhenyoureinlove
