This year's Children's Day isn't a time for celebration but one to replenish our conscience capital as a people.

We must all get to work however we can.

The distance from headline to flat lines is short.

Let's keep the kids in social memory to maintain pressure.

Claire’s powerful third Showcase
thinks about love, loss and emotional choices. The page includes ‘Seeing you Again’ by Martin X. Labuschagne –a poignant piece linked to the loss of a father + Derek Ehiorobo shares his truth in poetry with ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ + a superb poem - ‘I Count ‘ -linked to loss from Tavinder New . Finally, Claire Buss herself brings us ‘Evergreen’ celebrating the power of renewal.

The Poet Travels the Multiverse | Ehirobo Derek (@derekimagines)

I open the cage in my chest/ and let a thousand confessions/ swarm out of me like honey bees./ Her eyes are bright with joy./ She lets me braid her hair.

The Poet Travels the Multiverse | Ehiorobo Derek (@derekimagines)

And my country does not wear/ a badge of death on its chest./ Here, I do not mourn myself/ to silence and grief is not/ carved into our geography./ Today, the country on fire/ isn’t mine.

A fun story, some Christmas magic and poetry to lose yourself in. Palak Tewary’s 3rd December showcase makes the run up to Christmas sparkle that little bit more. Says Palak:
“The pieces gathered here explore the spirit of the season – from moments of upheaval and healing, mischief and wonder, love shaped by scarcity and the unexpected beauty that emerges after life’s storms.”
The page includes fiction from Adrian Barnett + poetry from Jonathan Chibuike, Derek Ehiorobo and TAK Erzinger. Fabulous!

Hi loves,
This is a win, one that feels like sunrise on my skin.
My poem “The Naija Spirit” now lives on TheArtHub.ng,
a new room for my fire and tenderness to breathe.
Go read it if you’d like to sit with my words for a moment. 🤍
