A message from our founder, @dereklomas
From ancient wisdom to a new Renaissance.

We’re here in Amsterdam @embassyofthefreemind, home to @theritmanlibrary , one of the world’s great collections devoted to magic, mysticism, Hermeticism, and esoteric thought.

It is now also home to Source Library, where AI translation is opening thousands of ancient and early modern texts to readers around the world.

In the 15th century, Marsilio Ficino helped ignite the Renaissance by translating ancient Greek wisdom for a new generation. Today, we’re asking what might happen if we do the same for the Renaissance itself.

A new Renaissance begins with access to the old one.

Haaland and the Historical Odin

Erling Haaland and his father reportedly paid about $140,000 for a rare 1594 edition of Norway’s royal sagas.

In Heimskringla, Odin appears not only as a god, but as a ruler, warrior, lawgiver, and ancestor.

This reflects euhemerism, the idea that some gods began as real people whose lives became legend.

For medieval writers, mythology, genealogy, and history often overlapped. A ruler could become an ancestor, a legend, and eventually a god.

Source brings forgotten books, images, and ideas into one searchable and translatable library.
