ICELAND DAY 7: The flight home from Reykjavik over the ice flows, fjords and mountains of southern Greenland, over northern Canada and the Canadian Rockies, over the Cascade Mountains of Washington State and finally Mt. Rainier outside of Seattle.

ICELAND DAY 6 -The Blue Lagoon. The perfect ending to six amazing, non-stop, action packed days. Unwinding in the hot waters of the Blue Lagoon, with an Icelandic cocktail, before flying home tomorrow.

ICELAND DAY 6 -The Golden Circle. We spent the morning in Thingvellir National Park, starting out at Geyser. Many areas of boiling and bubbling mud and water pots, steam and sulphur odors. Stokkur geyser erupts every 5-10 minutes and did not disappoint. After lunch we took the short hike to the majestic Gulfoss waterfall. Such a huge amount of glacier melt water. After this was the Kerid crater before leaving the park for the Blue Lagoon.

ICELAND DAY 5: Essentially a well-needed rest day. We drove from Akureyri to Borgarnes, saw a few sights along the way, and then hung out at the Airbnb and watched the World Cup football and sat in the hot tub.

Stopped off at the Vidimyrarkirkja tuft church built in 1834. Delicious fish soup at Hvammstangi for lunch, the Glanni waterfall and dinner in Borgarnes. I had the local delicacy of mashed fish. Also delicious.

Pictures can’t do this trip justice. I saw the most amazing things with some of the best people and would do it all again in a heartbeat. Here are some fun Iceland facts:
There are 2-3 sheep per person in Iceland (I can confirm based on how many sheep I saw)

Iceland has the cleanest tap water (waterfalls are basically sink faucets)

I love Iceland

ICELAND DAY 4: Alecs's quest to find puffins has been fulfilled! We were able to get up close to the puffins in their natural habitat in Borgarfjordur Eystri. They are really cute, but don't look like they should fly.

ICELAND DAY 4 - Studlagil Canyon. This was the one thing I absolutely had to do in Iceland, hike down to the river between the basalt columns. What an amazing place!

ICELAND DAY 4 - A.M. Picturesque Seydisfjordur town with the rainbow street and multiple waterfalls on the surrounding mountains. Driving through the snow over the mountain pass. Reindeer next to the road. Back down to sea level.

ICELAND DAY 3 -Afternoon. Coffee at Skool Beans Cafe in Vik after the Ice Caves, hiking up the Fjaorargljufur Canyon, the Kirkjugolf hexagonal basalt columns, Hofskirkja Tuft Church, Mulagljufur Canyon and finally dinner in Hofn, the langoustine capital of Iceland. A long day packed with amazing scenery.
