LOOK 21 “Did You Memorize Your Lines?” by @vorise.x Annette is wearing our silk charmeuse floor length bubble hem dress w rouleau loop closures + our ruffled taffeta cape “Did You Memorize Your Lines?” is my story of grief or any disruption in normalcy. Making it meant re-living losses I’d only ever touched on the surface, and realizing you can’t dictate how anyone grieves. The clothes are tailored, but never fully “resolved,” because grief isn’t either. We all memorize the lines when it comes to what we’re “supposed” to say, wear, become when loss walks into the room. This collection is what happens when you forget them, or refuse them on purpose. Look 16 — Song & Dance, FW 26’ Terrie in our charmeuse and heavy satin jumpsuit. Photo: Netta @_nettaabee
Model: Terrie @terrie.bravo
Photography Assistant: Prince @hiddenvillagephotography
Casting: Mill Merch @millmerch Special thanks to the production team. Song & Dance explores movement and sound as forms of expression, identity, celebration, and coping. Rooted in Nigerian culture, I thought about the ways we sing, dance, gather, and celebrate through every season of life, and our instinct to keep moving even when there are feelings we have not fully allowed ourselves to confront. We find comfort in familiar steps, routines, and roles, until they unknowingly become a performance. Throughout the collection, I played with that tension between expression and performance, joy and grief, movement and stillness. At its core, Song & Dance is about our very human instinct to carry on, and what happens when we finally sit down and face the music.
