Directions to the Other Side of the World
Ireland

A woman explores the far reaches of rural Ireland in an attempt to make peace with the darker aspect of her spirit. Shot on location in County Kerry, Ireland in 2025, Directions to the Other Side of the World is a bension for those of us visited by a depressed and desolate spirit, a sincere wish for friendship with the greyer aspects of self, and the darker times of day and season. Narrated and accompanied by the modern master of the Sean-nós tradition of singing, Iarla ó Lionáird, and scored by contemporary Irish composers Linda Buckley and Hannah Peel, the film attempts to bridge generations of place and ritual into poetic and practical film of belonging and peace.

In our latest video, we go behind the scenes with Bobbi Jene Smith and Or Schraiber for an intimate look at the creation of the costumes and sets for #ProcessionNBC. In this new ballet, the acclaimed choreographic duo explore the theme of procession as a universal human ritual, evoking its formality through refined evening wear that gradually unravels as the work progresses. Onstage November 1 – 8. 🔗 in bio.

Land so pure, so perfect, so untouched. How could my flawed heart ever be worthy of such precious grounds? How could this body ever be enough for such a sacred space? Simply, never.
When Derrick and I were creating this piece these questions were amplified in my head day in and day out. I believe the time spent in Ireland may forever stand true, the most vulnerable experience of my creative path.
It is in rare moments we find ourselves shifted by the power of genuine beauty. Time stops and our little lives are revealed to be of such insignificance to the immensity of this Earth. We grow humble we grow in gratitude.

I am speechless and in complete shock by the global recognition we are receiving from this film. I am immensely grateful to each and every film festival that has selected Directions to the Other Side of the World to be featured in 2025/26. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in our Irish tale.
