“When your work trip doesn’t feel like work… 🤠❤️”

You do NOT need an expensive costume to look like you tried.

Consider this my DIY Halloween costume receipt folder: what I bought, what I already owned, what actually made the costume work and what I’d skip next time.

A lot of these DIY Halloween costumes were built from random things I already had, inexpensive pieces, craft-store finds and one or two details that did most of the heavy lifting.

My biggest DIY costume lessons:

• Spend money on the ONE thing that makes the costume recognizable.
• Shop your closet before you shop anywhere else.
• Accessories can do more than an expensive costume ever will.
• Makeup can completely change a basic DIY costume.
• And if you have access to a ridiculously talented makeup artist… take full advantage of it.

Several of these were from my TV days, when I had the unfair advantage of having my favorite MUA @makeuphoustonhairstyle help bring my questionable ideas to life. If you don’t have a makeup artist handy, there are tons of beginner-friendly Halloween makeup tutorials that can get you surprisingly close.

Swipe through for the receipts, what I used and what I’d add as a memorable prop. 🍗

Save this for when you’re staring at a Halloween party invite thinking, “I am absolutely not spending $100 on a costume.”

And tell me: which one would you actually recreate?

Today is World Animal Day as we spread global awareness on how we can help ALL animals across the globe & that includes our wild friends! There are so many homeless cats & dogs that need a home & wild animals that need human voices to survive! had the chance to visit @houstonlifetv with our friends at the @houstonhumane with 3 of 8 puppies that came from a stray mom. All were in foster care which has given them a chance at life & love. Black dogs have such a hard time finding homes and we are so grateful to @kprc2laurenkelly and @derrickshore for helping to shine a light on Puppy Mill Awareness and lending a helping hand to give these and all stray animals a voice! Please #adoptdontshop Volunteer, donate & spay / neuter your pets! @shelterstreetdogs @sire @wildheartspetventures @lizzies.street.cat.club @careforequity @animalcaresanctuarypa @catswithnicefaces @wildanimalsanctuary @freewildhorses @wildaid @wildliferescuers @stray.freefoundation @thln @strayfromtheheart @_dulcebecker_ #animallovers #worldstrayanimalsday #catsofinstagram #dogsofinstagram

ICYDK my bride is an amazing cook. On my last appearance on @houstonlifetv she cooked up some Oktoberfest dishes. It was a hit with @derrickshore @kprc2laurenkelly @vana.la.vela & all the BTS staff. I am a lucky man! 🥨🌭🇩🇪

A big thanks to @derrickshore for welcoming me on the couch of @houstonlifetv today to talk all things @callmemotherexperience. It was refreshing to have such meaningful questions and an open heart to consider solutions. Shout out to @lindalorelle for walking us in the door.

We are just days away from our grand opening at @thehealthmuseum and already starting meaningful conversations. If you haven't purchased your ticket yet, click the link in my bio or visit the CMME website to be in the room as we kick off this groundbreaking new art exhibit on Black maternal health. (Oct 4 at 3pm)

I'm so excited to show you all what we've been cooking up for the last two years!

Truly a September to remember. 🤍

Texas is finally feeling like home. It took a few years, but when you find your people, the things that bring you joy and a job you genuinely love, something shifts.

The days feel fuller, life feels a little more fun, and suddenly, you realize you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Cheers to the people, places and moments that make a place feel like home. 😍

September was one for the books. 🤠🗽✨

They say work hard, play harder… and I think I took that pretty seriously this month.

From spending countless hours with the 93Q team at the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo, to hopping on a plane for my first New York Fashion Week, to finding out I’m nominated for CMA Major Market Personality of the Year for a 2nd year in a row…September was FULL in the best way.

A lot of work, a lot of fun, and a lot of moments that reminded me how grateful I am for where this career continues to take me.

September, you were a big one. 🤍 #TheLoShow #NYFW #RodeoSeason #CattleBaronsBall #explore

For everybody who asked “did you take Derrick his plant yet?” 😂 YES. I didn’t forget. Derrick got his plant!
And not just any plant. This is my H-Town Mix pothos 🪴 Different pothos propagated together and growing as one, just like Houston. We’re a melting pot, Mutt City, and the mix is what makes us beautiful. Pothos is adaptable, it goes with the flow, you love on it and it loves on you. That’s Houston. And Derrick is one of the first to get one. Such an honor.
I also sent him home with a jar of my cinnamon basil and lemon thyme salt, straight from my test-year garden. 🌿 And like @kprc2derrick said, Urban Harvest Farmers Market is “every Saturday, so get you some tomatoes!” 🍅 Go show @urbanharvesthouston some love. In case you were wondering @dukes_mayonnaise and tomato sandwiches go together real bad! 🫶🏾

A fashionable night to remember. ✨ Celebrating Houston’s next generation of style at Houston Magazine’s Fresh Faces of Fashion at Tootsies. An incredible evening filled with fashion, familiar faces and plenty of Houston style.

Congratulations to this year’s Fresh Faces and everyone who made the evening so special! 🥂✨

Not a bad office for the day! ☀️⛳️🎥

Lisa Stafford is out at Westwood Golf Club in Houston today with @kprc2 @houstonlifetv and host @derrickshore , filming a pretty incredible patient story.

Houston oil executive Steve Wyatt is sharing how, 13 years after having BOTH his knees replaced by our #client @drrichardberger, he’s still doing all the things he loves — downhill skiing, golfing, hiking and staying incredibly active.

Stay tuned for the segment on Houston Life next Tues, 9/22 at 1pm CT!
