POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Yeah, so…here is your 2026 Noir in the Boneyard lineup! It’s gonna fall on Friday the 13th (!) of November this year, and since we already host it at a cemetary….there will be some extra special sauce this time around. We’ve already got @19taylormade79 & @ryansnowden working on the poster, and yeah, we’re making a separate, second design as well for a limited-edition tee that will be available at the event and at the 29 Palms Book Fest. 🤟🏼 Super stoked about that. Anyways, thanks as always to Patrick and Francoise at @29pbf and the 29 Palms cemetery, as well.

As you can see, we have quite the lineup of pulp scribes for this years event—so set the date aside and come on out. We’ll have an Eventbrite site up in the coming days for tickets! We’ll provide a link to that at some point next week.

Well it’s already October (how did that happen?), so we figured it’s time for some updates. Lots going on and coming up here at Starlite.

First, submissions: editing evaluations are well underway for the new Review. We plan (hope) to be in the finalizing stages by the end of next week, and should have the full lineup a week or so after that. The quality of this submission round has been fantastic, so the difficulty lies now in putting together a cohesive and well-rounded issue, because we have way more deserving stories than we can fit. Be on the look out for word.

YES, we will be at the 29 Palms Book Fest, November 13-15, so come on out and hang. We’ll have a table full of books and merch, and Brian will be on a couple of the panels as well.

And, speaking of the book fest, we will also be hosting the Noir In The Boneyard reading yet again (on Friday the 13th), and we’ll be announcing the lineup for that later this week. Thanks to everyone who has reached out. Jess and Ryan are currently working on the poster as we speak.

After a brief hiatus, we will also be introducing some new tees in the coming weeks and months (a couple designs at a time), as Jess has been in design mode, so expect to hear more on this front. Some of the new work is crazy good.

We also have a top secret, code word only, project we’ll be announcing shortly. It features 11 authors and should be out in spring. We’re super excited for this one. And Jess and Ryan are also working on the cover for that.

We will also be collaborating with a vintage collector on some OOP books soon enough, more on that before you know it.

And yes, next year will bring 2 Reviews, possibly even 3, and we THINK another book of novellas as well. Many irons in the fire, as it were, and we’re super excited to bring you lots of pulp goodness in the coming months.

As always, thank you.

Mermaid of the Plains by Danielle Robertson in the new Review. Like westerns? Cool. Like mermaids? Cool. How about a mermaid in a western? Check it out.

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere! Why not a windowless studio at 2pm? One last image from a test shoot yesterday. I have a few appointments for portraits in SF studio Monday or Tuesday 9/28, 9/29 . Dm or email to book. Link in bio.

14 books so far in less than 4 years. Had you told any of us here that those were the expectations when we started this thing, each of us would have either signed out immediately or thought you were crazy—yet, somehow, here we are. With plans for another 7 (and possibly more) in the next year plus. That’s just nuts. Thanks for the past & future support, folks. Meanwhile, we’ll just keep grinding.

We’ve got at least 2 major (well, for us) announcements in the next month or two, but, timing is everything (that’s BS, but it counts for something), and it’s NOT QUITE TIME YET. Soon enough. All 14 books available now online in our shop, and in select bookstores as well.

I always find it interesting how we start to acquire collections of books by a certain writer or featuring a specific character. Oftentimes it’s intentional—specifically going after that series, maybe even in order, and then other times, that writer or character seems to find you, more than the reverse. Which is very much what has happened with Ross MacDonald (and, therefore, Lew Archer) for me.

A few years ago, I had only read one or two of them, had owned The Chill forever, and found it charming but overly plotted and with a few too many ‘twists’ in it, to the point where I was done with it. Fast forward a few years, and suddenly I have 8 books from the series, both Paul Newman movies they made from it (though his name is Harper and not Archer in the movies, and you’ll have to ask a long-dead producer why that genius move was made), and am always on the lookout for trade pb’s like The Drowning Pool above. Add to that that my character Sonny Haynes has now started reading the Archer books, which means that I need to know them as well now, and well—you have a burgeoning RM collection for not only reading pleasure, but for artistic purposes as well. Go figure.

By the way, the essays on crime and detective fiction I’ve run across by MacDonald have been outstanding.
