The Arena 🏟️

Ever since I was young, I’ve been fascinated by stadiums. My love for football taught me to appreciate their ability to contain so much emotion, so much passion, so much love and history. Their sheer scale is a humbling marvel. I made this piece in appreciation of that.

These grounds hold stories, told and untold. And when everyone goes home, the arena remains.

Shot across:
FNB Stadium · Johannesburg
Teslim Balogun Stadium · Surulere
National Stadium · Surulere
The Stable · Surulere
Rogers Centre · Toronto
Pan-Atlantic University · Ibeju-Lekki
Lagos Lawn Tennis Club · Onikan
PadelX · Ikoyi

Ladies and gentlemen, THE ARENA.

One year ago, The Film Party began in a living room.
A projector, a few friends, and a belief that great stories deserve an audience. That night became the first chapter.

Since then, we’ve screened work from emerging and established filmmakers across Nigeria, and watched the conversations carry on long after the lights came back up.

21 films. 2 editions. Countless conversations.
Today, we mark one year by giving The Film Party a home of its own: TheFilmParty.com

Explore our story, revisit past editions, and see what comes next.

To every filmmaker who shared their work, every volunteer who gave their time, every partner who believed early, and everyone who stayed for one more conversation: thank you. You are The Film Party.

This is only the beginning. See you at the next one.
An initiative of Deshiy Studios.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey arrives in IMAX, and we’re heading to Filmhouse Lekki to experience it as a community.

Some films are worth watching.
Some are worth sharing.

This feels like one of those.

🎟️ At the venue: ₦12,000 (subject to availability)

📍 Filmhouse IMAX, Lekki
🗓️ Thursday, July 17
🕕 6:00 PM

If you’d like to sit with The Film Party community, send us a DM to reserve your seat.

A week ago, we were crowned champions of England.

Tonight, @Arsenal play in the Champions League Final.

For years, nights like this belonged to other clubs, but now we’re here.

Whatever happens tonight, I’ll take a second to appreciate just how far we’ve come. #COYG

Midnight Visitors is now live on YouTube! 📽️
Comment “Midnight” and I’ll send you the link directly 🚀

After two public screenings and many meaningful conversations long after the credits rolled… it’s finally time to share it with everyone! 🥳

This story is tense and uncomfortable, but It’s human. Making this film forced me to sit in uncomfortable spaces and trust quiet moments. The cast and crew brought these characters to life in ways I honestly didn’t see when I was writing it.

A Deshiy Studios production.

Last night I had the pleasure of joining @fade_thehealer on The Soft Life @radionow953fm 🎙️✨

We spoke about my journey so far and the realities of independent filmmaking in Lagos, the process, the challenges, and the stories that keep us going 🎬

Really grateful for the conversation.
